• 1. Testes
• Produce hormones, sperm
• Two, develop in pelvic cavity, drop into
scrotum by passing through a hole
(ring) inguinal ring
in inguinal ligament
• Inguinal ligament stretches
across pubic bone to top of pelvis
• Spermatic Cord suspends testes in
scrotum; contains artery, vein, nerve
• Epididymis – sac on top of testes,
where sperm gain flagellum
• 2. Scrotum
• Holds testes
• Why suspended in scrotum?
• 3. Vas Deferens
• Tube, about 12 inches
• Carries sperm from testes up into body to
urethra
• Cut in a vasectomy
• 7. Urethra
• Tube that carries urine out bladder into
penis
• Vas deferens empty into this
• Also carries semen
• Semen = liquid in which sperm swim

5. Prostate Gland
Wraps around posterior urethra
Lies on top of rectum
Adds fructose and alkaline fluid to semen
Why?
4. Seminal Vesicles
Two, lie close to urethra, below prostate
Also add fructose and alkaline fluid to semen
6. Cowper’s Glands
Also called Bulbourethral glands
Lie close to urethra
Secrete lubricating fluid called Pre ejaculate
Usually occurs prior to ejaculation
when male is aroused
• Can contain sperm and impregnate a female
