Wishing the Happiest of New Years to my fellow Hibernian brothers. First let me start by saying I am honored to be elected as the President of the Dooley Division for this upcoming year. I want to thank the most recent member to join the “Past President’s Club”, Vince Eikmeier. What a great year we had with him as our President, I have some large shoes to fill. The month of December was very busy for us. Besides all of the normal hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season we had two fantastic Dooley AOH events. The first was the Officers Installation meeting held on December 9th. I would like to thank Father Zahn for hosting this event at St Paul’s. The event was attended by over forty AOH members along with several family members. A special thank you goes out to our Virginia State Board Vice President, Gene Bransfield and State Board Secretary, Bill Halpin, who were on hand to conduct the Ceremony. The second event was our division Christmas Party which was held in at the Columbian Center for the first time. We could not have asked for a better venue and the weather was superb. It was a total joy seeing all of the members along with their families enjoying each other’s company. We had over 120 people in attendance. A special thanks to Mike Muldowney for organizing the event and the Lord of the Bar, Jim Donahue, and his team of bar tenders for keeping us all in a joyful mood. Thank you to Santa for stopping by, I know this a very busy time of year for you and we truly appreciate you making a special stop for us. Thank you to Joe MGreal, our division Grianghrafadóir (that’s Irish for photographer) for all of the great photos taken at both December events. Lastly, congratulations are in order for our 2014 Gael of the Year, Mike Sweeney. Looking forward, we are all set to honor our Division’s namesake on January 24th at the Maymont/Dooley mansion. Also on that same day in Alexandria there will be a State Quarterly meeting at which the organizations highest degree, the Tower Degree, will be offered. My hope is that both of these events will be well attended. At our meeting on January 13th we will be presenting the calendar of events for the upcoming year. I look forward to another great year and all of the exciting plans we have scheduled.
