Tuition Fee Bursary Information and Guidelines

Fall 2015, Winter 2016, and Spring/Summer 2016

What is a Chang School Tuition Fee Bursary?

The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education Tuition Fee Bursary is a non-repayable tuition waiver given on the basis of financial need and on the student's demonstrated academic objectives and/or performance. Bursaries are targeted to students who would be unable to continue their studies without such financial aid. Chang School students may apply each term for this bursary.

What is the value of a Chang School Tuition Fee Bursary?

Chang School Tuition Fee Bursaries vary in value up to the full tuition fee of one course depending on the student’s level of need and available funding to a maximum amount of $600.00.

Who is eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for a Chang School Tuition Fee Bursary you must meet the following criteria:

New students should indicate on the application that you are new to The Chang School.

Returning Chang School students should have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 (C) in your studies to date

(please provide proof).

Part 3 – Financial Information).

 Describe how this bursary would impact your academic/career plan (see Application, Part 4 – Academic and Career Plan).

Who is NOT eligible to apply?

You are not eligible to apply if you are: x

A full-time or a part-time degree student. If you are in this category, please apply for the CESAR General Bursary or contact the Ryerson

Student Financial Assistance and Awards office. x

On academic probation or suspension at the time of application. x

Studying on an international student visa. x

Currently holding outstanding debts to Ryerson University. x A resident of Ontario for less than one year. x

A refugee claimant.

How are the recipients chosen and the bursaries distributed?

The Chang School Bursary Selection Committee evaluate all eligible students based on the application criteria. All students will receive an email regarding the results, approximately three weeks after the deadlines below.

If you receive a bursary, the course fee must be paid in full at time of enrollment. If you do not receive a bursary and enroll in a course, you are obliged to pay the course fee.

Following notification, your Ryerson University RAMSS account will be credited with the bursary amount. Bursaries are not cash, they are a Ryerson tuition credit, valid for the course fee only. All associated course costs (e.g., textbooks, supplies, and materials) are the student’s financial responsibility. Bursaries are non-refundable and must be used within a specified timeframe towards an eligible course.

Students are expected to be honest in providing information on the bursary application and in any subsequent discussions. If there is clear evidence that a student has misrepresented his/her financial circumstances, bursary assistance will be refused or withdrawn.
