FORT WORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT HOMICIDE UNIT COLD CASES The following individuals have been arrested in connection with multiple homicide cases in Fort Worth. The types of murders with which they were involved have led investigators to believe they may have committed violent acts against other individuals. Sam Chinn III Sam Chinn was serving a life sentence in New York for the murders of two women in the city of Syracuse, when his DNA was matched to evidence in the body of an 89 year‐old black female who was raped and strangled in her home on East Stella Street in Fort Worth in 1989. Sam Chinn was working as a handyman in Fort Worth at the time. Sam Chinn was a transient. He was known to have traveled to a number of places around the country, including New York, California, Illinois and Texas. Texas LUCKY ODOM In 2007, Lucky Odom was linked in a national DNA database to evidence from the body of a 23 year‐old female medical student, who was raped and strangled in Fort Worth in the year 1982. She was found near an elementary school on the west side of Fort Worth. Lucky Odom had resided in Fort Worth for about four years in the 1980’s. Lucky Odom then traveled throughout the United States. His appearance has changed dramatically over the years. A DNA database also linked Juan Segundo to two other females who were murdered in Fort Worth in 1994 and 1995. He has been arrested in Tarrant County, Texas JUAN RAMON MESA SEGUNDO 2004 1993 2000 1995 CURTIS DON BROWN Curtis Brown was arrested in 1986 for the murder of a 51 year‐
old female who had been abducted from her apartment. She was sexually assaulted, and died as a result of blunt force trauma. He was sentenced to life in prison for that crime. In 2005, a DNA database matched Curtis Brown’s DNA to evidence in two other murders: one in the city Arlington that occurred in 1985; and the murder of a 29 year‐old female who was shot and killed in Fort Worth in 1985. Has been arrested in the following states: California Texas CURTIS DON BROWN 1986 1979 1979 REGINALD WENDELL PERKINS In the year 2000, Reginald Perkins was arrested for the murder of his 64 year‐old step‐mother, who was found inside a car at a parking lot in Fort Worth. He was convicted and was sentenced to prison. He had already served time in Ohio for a murder that occurred in 1980. A DNA database also linked him to a double‐homicide that occurred in Fort Worth in 1991. All of the victims were females whom he knew. He also was convicted of several Sexual Assaults in Ohio.
