Finding its brand voice.

Challenge

Known as Standard, The Standard and The

Standard Insurance Company, Standard Insurance had a serious case of multiple brand personality disorder. The cure: a brand refresh that would not only provide employees with the tools to carry the purpose of the company to its customers, but also deal with the multiple name brand issue.

Solution

Armed with research suggesting that The

Standard stands apart from competitors in its behavior, attitude and approach, we created a brand that positioned the company as the antithesis of the same-old-same-old insurance and financial services company. We expressed the brand through a single moniker, a new logo

(which was previously described as aliens landing a spaceship), tagline and print ads that broke through the typical shaking-hands-across-aconference-room-table to dramatically illustrate

The Standard’s points of difference.

Results

In the first year of the brand launch, there was successful brand integration throughout all divisions in conjunction with the launch of the first corporate trade advertising campaign. The brand efforts reinforced The Standard’s relationship with current clients and put the company on the radar of potential new clients. While results were mainly anecdotal, the president frequently would use his brand book as a reference when evaluating decisions facing the company. He wanted to make sure his decisions aligned with the company goals.
