“Shape Your
Rewards” is
Cundall’s flexible
benefits scheme.
At Cundall, we know that we will only
succeed if we can attract and retain the
best talent that the industry has to offer.
As well as industry competitive salaries,
we offer this scheme to give our people
some flexibility around how they want to
be rewarded for their contribution.
The aim of the scheme is (as the name
suggests) to enable you to shape
your rewards to suit your personal
circumstances each year. You can use
the “Shape Your Rewards” site to alter
your benefits package by choosing the
benefits that are most relevant for you.
You can also view your “Total Reward
Statement” at any time during the year,
so that you can see the total value of all
of your cash and non-cash benefits.
You will receive your login details for the
site around the 20th of the first month
of your employment. In the meantime if
you need any further information about
the scheme in general, or about any of
the specific benefits, please contact a
member of the HR team.

Pension Scheme
Cundall operate a contributory group personal pension
scheme with AVIVA, one of the leading providers of life
and pension products in Europe.
A group personal pension scheme offers you a simple,
tax efficient way to save for your retirement. Payments
are made to your plan while you are working then,
when you retire, the money held in your pension fund
provides you with a tax free lump sum and a taxable
income for the rest of your life. Whilst retirement may
seem some way off it is important that you start taking
steps as early as possible to build up a retirement fund
for yourself.
Shape Your Rewards Your Choices
As long as you contribute at least 3.25% of your basic
salary, you can benefit from our employer contribution
of 3.75% of your basic salary.
You can, of course, choose to contribute as much as of
your salary as you wish to, over and above this amount.
You may also choose to contribute less than 3.25% of
your salary, if you do not wish to take advantage of the
employer contribution.
The Group Personal Pension Scheme operates as a
“salary exchange” arrangement, which maximises the
tax efficiency of the scheme for you, by enabling you
to claim full tax relief on your contributions at source.
Cundall understands the importance of planning for
your future and uses the services of qualified financial
advisers to provide advice on pensions and other
insurance benefits. We encourage all staff to take
advantage of this service (which is free of charge to
staff) by speaking with an adviser before making your
pension choices. Details of how to contact an adviser
are available on the site, once you have your log-in
details.

Group Income Protection
The Group Income Protection scheme is offered to
all Cundall employees as a core benefit, and provides
you with a continuation of income in the event that
you are unable to work due to illness or injury.
All staff employees aged 16 or over (but less than
64) are eligible for cover immediately on joining the
practice.
The Cover
In the event of you being unable to work due to illness
or injury for a period of more than 26 continuous weeks,
regular benefit payments equivalent to 75% of your
basic salary (less the state long term incapacity benefit)
may be made by the insurer. Benefit payments under
an approved claim will increase on a percentage basis
each year. Benefit payments continue for as long as
you remain unable to work (or reach the age of 65,
if earlier).
Why is this benefit important?
You are statistically five times more likely to be absent
from work due to an incapacity lasting over six months at
some point in your working life than to die before age 65.
4 out of 10 people suffer a prolonged illness or disability
at some stage during their working lives.
This benefit provides you and your family with the peace
of mind that comes with knowing that you have a secure
income, in the event that you are affected by a long-term
illness or incapacity.

Group Life Assurance

The Group Life Assurance scheme provides a lump
sum benefit in the event of your death in service.
All employees aged 16 or more (but not over age 64)
are eligible for cover immediately on commencing
employment. In the event of your death, whilst you
are an employee of Cundall, a lump sum benefit of
two times your basic annual salary will be paid to
your nominated beneficiary(s).
Life Assurance provides you with the peace of mind
of knowing that your dependants will be provided
for in the event of your premature death.
The scheme is established under a Trust Deed,
and payments from the scheme are made at the
discretion of the Trustees.

Holidays
At Cundall we are committed to helping staff maintain
a balance between their work and personal lives. Paid
holidays are an integral part of your benefits package
and Cundall offer all members of the Practice an annual
entitlement to paid holidays in excess of the statutory
minimum.
Your Choices
You can choose to “flex” your holiday entitlement by
way of an adjustment to your salary, should you require
more or less holiday than your contractual entitlement
provides.
Employees are able to purchase additional holidays
up to a maximum of 30 days per year or reduce their
entitlement to the statutory minimum, currently 20
days per year, and take the cash difference.

Private Medical Insurance
Cundall considers the health of its employees to be
very important.
Private Medical Insurance provides assurance that
medical treatment can be obtained promptly by
providing cover for eligible medical expenses incurred
during acute illness or injury.
Employees not eligible for Private Medical Insurance
as a core benefit can purchase cover under the group
scheme, and benefit from discounted corporate
rates. The provider is BUPA, a global health and care
organisation, and the level of cover is Corporate Select.
The Private Medical Insurance scheme provides
cover for the cost of eligible medical treatment on
an in-patient, out-patient or day patient basis.

Cover is on a ‘Medical History Disregarded’ basis,
meaning that any pre existing conditions will be covered.

Dental Insurance
Cundall offer employees the opportunity to purchase
Dental Insurance.
Dental Insurance provides you with the peace of
mind of knowing that, by paying a monthly premium,
the cost of your dental care (routine and / or emergency)
will be covered at the point of need.
The provider is Denplan, who are appointed
representatives of AXA PPP healthcare. Denplan has
25 years’ experience in the market and is the UK’s
leading dental payment plan specialist, with around
6,500 member dentists.

Childcare Vouchers
Cundall recognise that more and more of us are
working and paying for childcare, whether it is after
school, pre school or full time care.
To assist employees in paying for childcare, we operate
a childcare voucher scheme.
The Childcare Voucher scheme enables you to benefit
from tax relief on (some of) the cost of your childcare
arrangements, by way of a “salary exchange”
arrangement. You exchange part of your salary for
vouchers, which can then be used towards the cost
of your childcare.
Your Choices
You can choose to exchange up to £243 of your
monthly salary for childcare vouchers if you are a basic
rate taxpayer. Higher rate taxpayers may exchange up
to £124 of their monthly salary for childcare vouchers.
You can purchase additional vouchers over and above
this limit, but these additional costs will be deducted
from your net pay (ie your salary after tax and National
Insurance).
The vouchers can be used to pay for any form of legally
recognised childcare for children up to the age of 16.
Many child-minders, nurseries and nannies accept the
vouchers as a method of payment.

Give as you Earn

Cundall offers employees the opportunity to make
regular donations to a charity of their choice.
The donation is deducted from the employee’s gross
pay on a monthly basis, thus reducing the cost of
the donation to the employee, and / or enabling the
employee to give more. Donations are forwarded to the chosen charity on a
monthly basis through the Charities Aid Foundation.
Cundall pays the administration fee for this service.

Cycle to Work
Cundall are Sustainable Consultants of the Year 2010.
But we don’t think sustainability stops at building design.
The Cycle to Work initiative helps employees save money,
improve their health and protect the environment!
Your Choices
Cycle to Work is provided in conjunction with
Cyclescheme. The scheme allows you to hire a bike
and associated safety equipment (worth between
£100 and £1,000), for commuting to and from work.
In return, Cundall will provide you with the use of a
bicycle and cycling safety equipment for commuting,
work related activities and leisure.
The voucher can be used in a wide variety of outlets.
At the end of the hire period, ownership of the bike
and equipment can be transferred to you, upon
payment of a specified sum, to reflect the fair market
value of the equipment.
Shape Your Rewards As a participating employee, you will agree to sacrifice
an agreed sum deducted from your gross salary.
You will save on income tax and national insurance,
that would otherwise have been payable by you.
The cost of the bike and equipment is also spread
over 12 months.
