Trauma Nursing Core Course 2016 Why You Need TNCC Optimal trauma patient care is best accomplished when all trauma team members use a systematic, standardized approach to injured patient care. You can help significantly reduce morbidity and mortality of trauma patients by educating yourself on how to be a stronger trauma care team member. TNCC provides you with cognitive, core-level trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills experience in an interactive format. The hands-on psychomotor skill stations help you incorporate cognitive knowledge into application of skills in a safe practice environment. You’ll benefit from having one faculty member for at least every six learners. TNCC Highlights Abdominal, pediatric, and pregnancy trauma Airway and ventilation interventions Initial assessment and shock Spinal immobilization Chest trauma and traction splinting Opportunity to earn 17.65 contact hours What Experience Do You Need? It is recommended that you have at least six months clinical nursing experience in an emergency care setting prior to taking the course. It is assumed that you will also have an understanding of initial trauma care and terminology and are familiar with standard emergency trauma equipment. Course Preparation Prior reading of the text book is strongly recommended, paying particular attention to Initial Assessment chapter and the Skill Stations. Successful participants have reported that additional study time is necessary to pass the seventh edition TNCC course. Your knowledge and psychomotor (hands-on) skills will be evaluated so advanced preparation is highly recommended. Certification & Continuing Education Credits Upon successful completion of the TNCC course, all participants will receive 17.65 CEUs from ANA. Testing consists of a 50 question, multiple choice examination and a trauma nursing psychomotor skill station. If successful in all testing, ENA will issue a TNCC verification card.
