Bank online with confidence
When you use RBC Online Banking1, protecting your personal, business and
financial information is our highest priority. RBC Online Banking is safe and
secure. Every time you access your account online, you’re protected with the
latest security and encryption features:
 O
ur sign-in protection uses advanced safeguarding techniques to confirm
your identity, adding an extra barrier between your online accounts and any unauthorized users.
 T he RBC Online Banking Security Guarantee provides you greater peace of mind. If an unauthorized
transaction is conducted through your RBC Online Banking service, you will be reimbursed 100%
for any resulting losses to those accounts.2
Ways to communicate with us
When you need to communicate with us, you’ll find many easy and convenient ways to reach us.
By choosing the Customer Service tab in Online Banking, you’ll find the help you need:
 Answer Centre — Have a question? Find answers to the most frequently asked questions.
 C
ommunications — Contact us by phone, at one of our branches or online. You can also send us
a message using our Message Centre, which is a secure and confidential way to communicate with
us online.
 Site maps — Find links to information about Online Banking.
Enrol in RBC Online Banking
Choose from three easy and secure ways to sign up for RBC Online Banking3:
1. To enrol by phone:
 Call us toll-free at 1-800-769-2555, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
2.To enrol online:
 V
isit www.rbc.com/enrol and follow the simple on-screen instructions. You will need to provide
the following information:
– Your address
– Your bank account details
– Answers to additional security questions
3. To enrol in person:
 C
ome visit us at any of our branches. We can also give you an Online Banking demonstration
to get you started.

Accounts summary
When you sign into Online Banking, you’ll automatically be taken to the Accounts Summary page for a
full listing of all your current accounts, credit cards, mortgages, loans and more.

1 Alert Inbox
RBC Alerts is a service that keeps you in control of your
finances through email and text message notifications.
5 Loans/Mortgages
2 View your ebills
With RBC ebills (a service provided by Canada Post) you can
now get your bills delivered online, and pay them through
RBC Online Banking.
6 Pay bills quickly and easily
 From the dropdown list, choose “From” for the account
you want to withdraw the money from.
3 Chequing/Savings
Click on any account name to view details of a specific
chequing or savings account.
4 Credit Cards
Simply click on the account number to view account
information and all recent transactions.
Check outstanding balance on credit lines, loans or
mortgages, and review recent payments or transactions.
 S
elect the credit card account, phone bill, person or
company you want the money to go to.
 E
nter the amount, select the currency from the
dropdown list if necessary and hit “Submit.”
Now, you’ll be taken to a page where you can confirm or cancel
your transaction. You can review your transaction details for
accuracy, then select “Confirm” to receive your confirmation
number. It’s that easy!
Did you know …
You can order personalized cheques through RBC Online Banking. Simply click on “Order New Cheques” under Account
Services and follow the prompts to complete your order.

Access your eDocuments and setup Alerts
You can always access your account information with ease, whether it is through Online Banking or
your mobile phone.

View and manage documents

Access your electronic statements and trade
confirmations anywhere, anytime. Your electronic
documents are stored for up to seven years. You can also
print them or save them to your own computer.
Set up your preferences and you can opt to receive Alerts to
your email address or mobile phone (as text messages).
You can choose to receive Alerts for your RBC deposit
accounts on:

lick on “View and Manage Documents”; then, to set
this option up for each of your accounts, click on
“Manage Documents” and select “Electronic” from the
dropdown menu next to each account.

nce you’ve set this up, you can view your documents
by clicking the View eDocuments tab on the View and
Manage Documents page.

Did you know …
If you don’t want to receive Alerts on your mobile at night, you can setup the Do Not Disturb feature for specific times. Any
Alerts sent at these times will be resent later.

Stop a cheque or pre-authorized payment
You have the option to stop the payment of any cheque you’ve written, or any online pre-authorized
payment you’ve set up, provided the transaction has not yet gone through. Plus, it costs less to stop a
payment online than to do it at the branch.4

How to stop a payment

From either the Accounts Summary page or Banking tab,
click on one of your savings or chequing accounts.

Under Account Details, click “Stop a Cheque or Preauthorized Payment.”

You’ll be informed that a $10 fee applies unless you have a
banking account that provides this service for no additional
charge. Click “Continue.”
On the next screen:
 Select the type of payment you would like to stop:
cheque or pre-authorized payment.
 Enter the details of the payment, including amount,
date and payee. For cheques, you’ll need to have the
serial number handy.
 Click “Confirm” to complete the request.
Did you know …
By choosing to stop a payment through Online Banking, you’ll save $8 on what is usually an $18 fee in-branch.5

Pay bills and transfer money at any time
Make payments and transfer funds
You can easily pay bills and transfer money to other RBC clients through RBC Online Banking.

1 Pay bills and transfer funds
Click on this link in the Quick Payments & Transfers box on
the Accounts Summary page.
Amount
Enter the amount.
From
Select the account you wish to pay with from the dropdown
list (i.e. where the money will be withdrawn).
To
From the dropdown list, select the payee (individual or
company you wish to pay or transfer money to). Any bill that
you pay in-branch or at the ATM is automatically registered as
a payee online. This way, you can easily pay these bills online
or through your mobile device.
When
You can change the date of your payment if you wish to
postdate the transaction. You can also set recurring
payments or transfers, for instance, if you want to send
someone a set amount every month.
Submit the payment
When you are ready to complete the transaction, click
“Submit.” On the next screen, review the details of your
transaction and click “Confirm.”
2 Add payee
To add a new bill payee, click “Add Payee” under Related
Services. You can then select the company you wish to add
from a list of available billers and start making payments.
To add a friend or family member who banks with RBC as a
payee, click on “Add Other Royal Bank Customer” under
Related Services, or “Add Interac‡ e-Transfer Recipient” as
applicable.
3 Payment history
This gives you an itemized list with a full description of all
your payments. Your bill payments are recorded automatically
as they’re made. You can view them anytime through the
Online Payment History feature. You can also see any
payments that were completed at an ATM or through
RBC Telephone Banking.
Did you know …
You can send money to anyone who has a bank account
with RBC for free4. All you need is their branch, account
number and account name.

Pay multiple bills at once
Save time by paying up to 10 bills at once. If you’re making multiple payments and the money is coming
out of the same account, this is a quick and easy way to make up to 10 payments at a time.

In the Quick Payments & Transfers box on the Accounts
Summary page, click “Pay Bills and Transfer Funds,” then
click “Pay Multiple Bills” in the left-hand menu.

Choose the account the funds will be withdrawn from.

Choose the payees from the dropdown menus.

Enter the amount for each payment.

Select “Continue” and then confirm or cancel your
transactions on the next page. You will receive a reference
number for your records.
Did you know …
By choosing to pay multiple bills at once, you can save money because they will count as one transaction, so only one
transaction banking fee will be applied.

Get money to friends and family securely and fast
Send money within Canada (Interac e-Transfer)
Interac‡ e-Transfer provides an option for sending money quickly using Online Banking. All you need is
your recipient’s name and email address. An email notification is then sent to your recipient containing
the link for them to accept the e-Transfer.

From the Account Summary page, select the
Banking tab.

Enter the recipient’s name, email address and a security
question.

Select “Pay Bills and Transfer Funds” from the left-hand
menu. Then select “Manage Payees.”

Click “Continue.” And then on the next screen, “Confirm” or
“Cancel” the details of your new recipient.

cost of an Interac e-Transfer and explains
how it works. Select “OK.”

Sending an Interac e-Transfer only costs $1, and some banking packages such as RBC Signature No Limit Banking® and

Send money to friends and family overseas in a few simple steps. With RBC International Remittance®, you
can easily and securely send up to $2,500 per day for just $13.50.7

How to send money overseas

From the Quick Payments & Transfers box on the
Accounts Summary page, select “Pay Bills and
Transfer Funds.”

Select “RBC International Remittance” from the
left-hand menu. To complete the transaction, you’ll
need the following information handy:
 T he SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (BIC) of the bank
you’re depositing the funds to
 T he recipient’s name and address (as they appear
on their bank records) and bank account number
if applicable
 B
ank account number (in some countries this is
known as IBAN and in Mexico, CLABE)
You can get help using RBC International Remittance in
more than 150 languages by calling 1-800-769-2555.
We’re here 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
3 The next screens will ask you to:
 R
eview your information to ensure it’s correct, then select the
country you’re sending the money to
 S
elect the account, enter the amount, currency and
click “Continue”
 E
nter the name and address of the recipient then review and
confirm your transaction
 S
elect the Bank that the funds are being sent to and enter the
account number if applicable.
Did you know …
By sending money through Online Banking, you’re
saving money. The service fee for sending funds using
RBC International Remittance, for amounts up to
$2,500 CAD per day, is $13.50 per transaction,
compared to an in-branch wire transfer, which would
cost approximately $458.
