Charlton) for our brown bag lunch workshop: "Thriving in Graduate School – Stress, Anxiety and Mental Health Resources." At this session, you'll hear an "In Our Own Voice" presentation from the UC chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and learn about the stress management services (including a graduate student group) offered by Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Innovate to Protect the Mill Creek Watershed at Spark UC Nov. 7 Spark UC, Collaboration for a Purpose, will provide students the opportunity to work on a real world problem in their community while collaborating with students from other colleges at UC. The 2015 edition of Spark is titled "Mill Creek Alive". Students will work in teams of 5 to create 3–5 recreational areas along the Mill Creek watershed. But there's a catch: no more than two team members can be from the same college! The event will take place on Nov. 7, 8 a.m.–6 p.m., with the support of mentors from UC, Rockfish, Rhinegeist and Queen City Angels. Increasing Research Funding Productivity Seminar Nov. 10 In an era of tight budgets and extreme competition for research dollars, people often expend a great deal of time and energy in the unsuccessful pursuit of funds for their projects. This interactive and dynamic seminar, led by Dr. Marshall Kaplan on Nov. 10, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 3:30–5 p.m., deals with the realities of today’s funding challenges and the complete end-to-end process by which successful faculty members and research groups achieve sponsorship from government agencies and other sources. UC Health Recruiting Female Graduate Students for Birth Control Studies The UC Health Center for Reproductive Health is currently enrolling sexually active women ages 18–40 for clinical trials of several different birth control methods, including a progestin-only pill, intravaginal ring and non-hormonal copper IUD.
