However, owever, if i a degree does not require college algebra and requires ONLY one math class, class DCCCD’s Statistics MATH 2342 or Business Math MATH1324 will fulfill the requirement. All College of Engineering majors do not require ENGL 1302 but ENGL 2311. However, ENGL 2311 needs eds ENGL 1302 as prerequisite at DCCCD. UTD • • Only TWO degrees at UT Dallas require a foreign language, Global Business and International Political Economy Economy. School of Engineering and Computer Science Students have higher math requirement requirements. It is preferable to complete all math requirements before transferring to UTD. Ø The following required Math courses can be completed at DCCCD for School of Management majors o MATH 1325 o MATH 1370 o MATH 2318 or MATH 2305 UTD requires 9 hours of science for its core requirement. If students transfer to UTD with 8 science hours from DCCCD but an incomplete core, students will need to take one hour lab or a science course at UTD to fulfill the requirement. However, transferring with core complete, UTD won’t ask the students to take the extra one science hour. UTA • • • • • The UT Arlington core requires a literature (sophomore level English) course. If a student is core complete without one, please contact a UT Arlington academic advisor. In other words, do encourage students, who are UTA intended, to take a literature class to fulfill “Humanity CB 040” core requirement. Sophomore elective required – PHIL 1301 will transfer in as sophomore course, PHIL 2303 & 2306 DO NOT. Psychology is different with UTA – It is listed as a science and the focus is on the Brain instead of counseling. In other words, a psychology class is not encouraged to be taken as “Self and Society CB 080” course. Computer Literacy requirement - This requirement could be met by a specific course in the degree plan or transfer in BCIS 1405, COSC 1301, or COSC 1401. SPCH 1311 will not work for engineering majors’ degree plans. Engineering majors do not require a Speech course, but do require Professional and Technical Communication. Students may take SPCH 1321 and ENGL 2311 to satisfy COMS 3302 for UTA’s College of Engineering. University of Dallas does not accept many of DCCCD classes – please be careful advising a student who wants to transfer there. Those classes will be waived when transferring to TWU with core complete. However, if students transfer to TWU with an incomplete core, four courses will be required (at least) for TTWU’s WU’s degree completion: Ø Multicultural Women’s Studies Ø Computer Literacy (or exam) Ø Oral Communications Ø And MATH 1332 UT-Austin • UT Austin requires all transfer students to remove a foreign language deficiency for graduation. Please advise students to take the sequence of foreign language classes (1411, 1412, and/or 2311 and 2312) to fulfill the core requirements of “Speaking & Listening CB 011” and “Humanity CB 040”. It has to be iin a singlee foreign language, with at least two college-level level semesters (some majors require up to four college college-level semesters). • The UT Austin core requires a literature (sophomore level English) course. SMU • • • • • • Regardless of the number of transferable credits, students will need to earn at least 60 credit hours in residence at SMU to receive a SMU degree. Students have to have more than 30 transferrable credits to be considered as transfer students SMU requires computer literacy class in its General Education curriculum. The one exception is UTD. For liberal art majors intended, please encourage the students to take the sequence of foreign language classes (1411,1412, and 2311) to fulfill the core requirements of “Speaking & Listening CB 011” and “Humanity CB 040” • Every major, including science majors, at UT requires a foreign language for graduation. PHYSICS • The Physics course needed depends on the major: § Engineers need to take Calculus Based Physics - PHYS 2425 and 2426. § Pre-health professions take Algebra and Trigonometry Based Physics – PHYS 1401 and 1402.
