• HOMEWORK: Look at the sonnets below:

“Sonnet LXXI” by Sir Philip Sydney. Italian. Label it and find volta, dilemma

presented in octave, solution in couplet.

“Sonnet LIV” by Edmund Spenser. Spenserian. Label it. Find volta. Label each

dilemma presented within quatrains. Solution.

“Sonnet XXIX” by Shakespeare. English sonnet form. Label it. Look at dilemma

in each quatrain. Find volta. Label solution or final determination.
Wednesday, January 4
• discuss homework (do not take it up)
• Hamlet, Act 3. Watch film of Act 1 and 2.
• introduction of “Fever Chart” which will help them in their final writing over Hamlet. Not
graded. Just a completion grade.
• Homework: find quotes from act 1 and 2 that show Hamlet’s madness and how it
peaks and wanes. Use etext. Cut out lines that show.

• Read Act 3
• Work on Fever Charts for Hamlet Act 3
Friday, January 6
• Finish Fever Charts through Act 3.
