National Honor Society Application Name Address City, State, Zip Phone Grade Do Not Write in This Space Applicant Number Faculty Recommendation NHS Member Grade GPA The National Honor Society is a national service organization that promotes scholarship, service, leadership, and character among high school students. The Gallup High chapter of the National Honor Society does its best to promote these things within our school and the community. We are always in need of more members for our chapter, but membership requires approval, and NJHS membership does not guarantee NHS membership. This is something that has been set forth by the national organization so that individual chapters know that prospective members do exhibit the qualities of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. One they are turned in, applications are reviewed by a faculty council and prospective members may be interviewed by the current members of the chapter. While these tasks may seem daunting to some, please know that there are outlets to help you fill out this application. The current members will be hosting pre-application workshops that are MANDATORY for those wishing to apply. These workshops will be held from September 14, 2015 (Monday) until September 18, 2015 (Friday) both before school and after school in room C106. The workshop should last about twenty minutes plus time for questions. The sponsor of the Gallup High chapter of NHS is also available for students who need to schedule a separate workshop, need some help with the essay writing and review, and listing honors, activities, and service. You have met the standard of scholarship. The standards of character, leadership, and service will now be reviewed in a variety of ways. Complete the entire application form provided so that it can be better reviewed by the current NHS members, and the faculty committee. If the applicant fails to attend a workshop, fails to provide any of the required items, and/or fails to submit their application on or before the due date, the application will NOT be considered You must write the essay. Applications that are turned in without an essay will not be considered. Attach a copy of your schedule to the application. Attend a pre-application workshop and sign in.
