David J. Hess is a professor of Science and Technology Studies at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. He is
director of the Program in Ecological Economics, Values, and Policy and advisor for the 100 students in
the Design, Innovation, and Society program. The author of over a dozen books and fifty articles, his
recent work focuses on sustainability, publics, and science and technology.
David A. Banks is a Ph.D. student in Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
His research involves new urbanism, urban sustainability, and related issues of urban design.
Bob Darrow is a Ph.D. student in Science and Technology Studies at Virginia Tech. He studies political
theory, social inequality, and mountaintop removal in Appalachia.
Joe Datko is a Ph.D. student in Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He
studies public policy, political theory, and democratic participation.
Jaime D. Ewalt is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Sciences and Policy Studies at New Jersey Institute
of Technology and a Senior Environmental Specialist at the New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection (NJDEP). She currently serves as the chair and founding member of the NJDEP’s Sustainability
Action Group for the Environment (NJDEP SAGE). She received her M.S. degree from the Ohio State
University in Biochemistry and B.S. degrees in Biology and Biochemistry from Syracuse University. Her
doctoral research is on socio-ecological resilience of megapolitan regional systems.
Rebecca Gresh is a Ph.D. student in sociology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She studies
space, power, and food.
Matthew Hoffmann is a Ph.D. student in sociology at Loyola University in Chicago. He studies social
movements, food, and regionalism in the U.S..
Anthony Sarkis is a Ph.D. student in environmental studies at Antioch University New England. His
dissertation research is on energy consumption in households, with a focus on the acceptance and use
of home-energy incentives in Massachusetts. He also holds an MBA and is the founder and principal of
Visionary Solutions Consulting LLC.
Logan D.A. Williams is a Ph.D. student in the Science and Technology Studies Department at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute. She studies technology transfer, development, and health in South Asia.
