• What is a database?
o It’s an online collection of
information organized for quick and
easy searching.
o Library databases are collections of
reputable information sources --- the
good stuff: newspaper & magazine
articles, reference book content, and
full-text books!
o Subscription databases contain
information that you can’t find by using a search engine (such as Google). You’ll
need your library card and pin number to access the databases.
• Choose the database you want to use from an alphabetical list, or see databases grouped

• Study Zone
Get free help with your homework from volunteer tutors, available
online or at the library. Visit www.kcls.org/studyzone to log on and chat with a
volunteer tutor, or check the schedule for the location and hours of in-person Study
Zone sessions at a library near you.
• Live Homework Help
Get free help from live, professional tutors through online chat. Tutors are available
online from 2pm-midnight, 7 days a week. Requires a library card and pin number.
• EOC, MSP, HSPE & SAT Tutoring Service
Online tutors are available 7 days a week from 1pm-10pm to assist students with EOC,
MSP, HSPE, and SAT testing. Select your test and grade level and set your own pace
with expert tutors provided by Brainfuse. Requires a library card and pin number.
• Ask-A-Librarian
Librarians are available to answer your questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They
will provide up to 20 minutes of live chat service in order to obtain as much online
information as possible regarding your question. Requires a library card and pin
number.
