http://multifaiths.com/world-calendars/almanac-islamic-calendar

regular system that enables people to lead their life in a productive way. Daily
affairs and work are organised within this framework of times of prayer,
defined according to the sun by day, and the moon and its phases by night.

This deficiency can be made up by occasionally inserting a 13th month, in a
method called “intercalation”.
