Individually, Firestorm redoubts are often enough to counter any aerial threat; when deployed as a Firestorm Nexus, enemy aircraft are all but doomed to annihilation, such is their withering firepower whenfired in unison. These 7as-storms' have earned a terrifying reputation amongst the Imperium's enemies, andfew commanders will risk employing their aircraft squadrons in a Firestorm Nexus' vicinityforfear of their complete destruction. Because of this, settlements in isolated locations will usually be built under or near a specially constructed Imperial Stronghold. In times of danger, Imperial citizens will quickly evacuate to the stronghold, taking shelter behind its thick armoured walls, and in the laroe bunkers that lie underneath it. COORDINATED ATTACKS (IMPERIAL STRONGHOLD) If two or more emplaced weapons from the Imperial Stronghold, and/ or units occupying parts of the Imperial Stronghold, fire at the same enemy target unit in a single Shooting phase, then those units shooting after the first have the Shred special rule. SHRED If a model has the Shred special rule, or is attacking with a Melee weapon that has the Shred special rule, it re-rolls failed To Wound rolls in close combat. Similarly, if a model makes a shooting attack with a weapon that has the Shred special rule, it re-rolls its failed To Wound rolls. FIRESTORM Two or more redoubts in the formation can combine all of their shooting attacks into a single attack each turn with the profile below. All participating models must be in range and have line of sight to the target. Range 96” S 9 AP 2 Type Heavy X, Las-storm, Interceptor, Skyfire, Twin-linked LAS-STORM X is equal to 3 per redoubt participating in the attack. Enemy Flyers cannot choose to Evade against Lasstorm attacks. INTERCEPTOR At the end of the enemy Movement phase, a weapon with the Interceptor special rule can be fired at any one unit that has arrived from reserve within its range and line of sight. If this rule is used, the weapon cannot be fired in the next turn, but the firing model can shoot a different weapon if it has one. If a weapon has both the Interceptor and Skyfire special rules, it uses its full Ballistic Skill against all targets (unless it is firing Snap Shots). SKYFIRE A model with this special rule, or that is firing a weapon with this special rule, fires using its normal Ballistic Skill when shooting at Flyers, Flying Monstrous Creatures and Skimmers. Unless it also has the Interceptor special rule, it can only fire snap shots against other targets. TWIN-LINKED A weapon with the Twin-linked special rule counts as a single weapon of that type, but to represent the fusillade of fire, you must re-roll the dice To Hit if you miss. Twin−linked weapons don't get more shots than normal ones, but they give you a better chance of hitting with them. REFUGE If, at the end of the battle, the Aquila Strongpoint has not suffered a Total Collapse or Detonation! result, or been occupied at any time by enemy units, then the side that took this formation receives a bonus Strategic Victory Point. SALLY FORTH Units in the Imperial Stronghold may exit a building and charge on the turn they do so, even on a turn that the building has been destroyed (unless they are pinned). In addition, units that do this have the Furious Charge special rule for the duration of the Assault phase. FURIOUS CHARGE In a turn in which a model with this special rule charges into combat, it adds +1 to its Strength characteristic until the end of that phase. A model that has made a disordered charge that turn receives no benefit from Furious Charge (pg 27 of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook).
