Kellogg Community College Curriculum Guide for Transfer to: Michigan State University Curriculum: Veterinary Technology Transfer Admissions Criteria to MSU Admission as a transfer student is based on consistent academic performance, including all grades, courses, and attempts at all previously attended institutions. Applicants with a GPA below 2.0 are not admissible. Admission consideration is stronger for applicants who have completed 28 or more credits and meet the following criteria: o 3.0 GPA or higher. o Completion of one year of English composition equivalent to Michigan State’s Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures course Writing: Science and Technology (WRA 110). At KCC, ENGL 151 & 152. o Completion of a math course equivalent to MSU’s College Algebra (MTH 103) or higher. At KCC, MATH 124 o o o o o Students wanting to transfer to MSU should complete the Lower Level Integrative Studies courses. When applying to MSU, GPA’s will be recalculated including: all courses, all attempts, and all colleges. “C” grade will transfer if overall GPA from transfer institution is at least a 3.0. Students who transfer 42 or more credits must select a major. Transfer students are encouraged to apply at least six months prior to their desired semester of enrollment. Decisions are typically made eight to 12 weeks after all application materials are received. Admissions Criteria for Veterinary Technology major: To be considered for direct admission into veterinary technology, applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA in all course work attempted; a minimum 2.5 in all math, chemistry, and science related courses; and a minimum 2.5 GPA in the last 12 credit hours of course work. Students with 42 or more transferable credits must have equivalent course work completed in these prerequisite courses: • • Complete courses listed below including the completion of the English/writing (WRA) Integrative Studies requirement; although not required, students are encouraged to complete the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (ISS) and Arts and Humanities (IAH) Integrative Studies requirements if possible. Application deadline is January 15 of the year admission is sought. All application forms and supporting materials must be submitted by this date. Applicants must additionally submit a veterinary technology application form (available through the Veterinary Technology Advising Office), two recommendation forms, and an essay, and have a minimum of 80 hours of veterinary experience.
