Big changes going on at various MVC locations
By Eric Hinton
If you have been around our main store, Alamosa store, or Broadway Service locations you may have noticed some construction and changes. We put up a new
warehouse at the main store to help hold more product, and to better protect
some of the other inventory that we have to carry for long periods of time. Everyone in TBA, Farm Store, Feed, and Petroleum is excited about having the new
space. Also, we are in the process of redoing the warehouse at the Alamosa
store. This will allow them to have more space, and once again help to get more
product out of the elements. Feel free to stop by once construction is complete
and take a look around.

We have also decided to make some serious changes at Broadway Service. We
will be removing the gas and diesel pumps, along with the canopy and above
ground storage tanks in the back of the store. This is an older system, and we
have decided that maintaining it was not in the best interest of the Coop. Orlando and his crew will continue to do an excellent job of providing tire service to
the Alamosa area. We will still have the gas and diesel pumps at the Alamosa
store to serve our members fuel needs. Please feel free to call with any questions
you may have.

Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at .
My job & bowling
Name two things you aren’t good at. Starting up a random
conversation with somebody & remembering things
What is one thing not too many people know about

hair
If you could have any super power what would it be? To cure cancer
Who are the most important people in your life? My 3 children, Heather, James, & Kip, my granddaughter, Kayla, soon to be great grandchild and soon to be daughter-in-law, Cristy Ziegler.

expect to live off the government.
What is your pet peeve? Stupid people
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Any place close to my kids.
What is your goal in life? Do you think you will achieve it? To retire in a few years & be healthy

What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Driving friends home, who had been drinking,
before I had my license
What do you think the greatest invention of your lifetime is, and why? Agriculture pivot sprinklers because sometimes I didn’t have the strength to pull 6” siphon tubes out of the ditch to get
them started.
What is your favorite quote? You won’t know unless you try it. You have to do what you have to
MYSTERY EMPLOYEE
This young man has always loved
the outdoors and equipment.
Equipment Open House
How the heck are you suppose to fold a fitted sheet?
I started at the Co-op in January of 2000 at the Main Store at the front counter. After 8 years at the store I transferred to the Grain, Fertilizer & Chemical Departments where I am currently. I still hear from customers who say
they miss me. So it is nice to know I was good at my job & was appreciated in my time there. I am very proud to say I
have worked for the Co-op for 15 years & 8 months without taking a sick day except for 3 weeks in 2013 for foot
surgery. I am from a big family of 16 children with me being number 11. My hobbies are bowling, fishing,
gambling, needlework, a little golf, & the outdoors in the summer. I have 3 children, Heather, James & Kip, &
one granddaughter Kayla. In January I will have a great
grandchild. Kip will be getting married in June so I will have a
daughter-in-law, Cristy Ziegler. I grew up on a farm & was
married to a farmer where I learned to drive tractors & other
farm equipment. So that is where I got my knowledge to
work at the Main Store.
OCTOBER IS CO-OP MONTH! Co-op Month has been celebrated annually in October
across the United States for more than half a century. Each October, cooperative members reflect on the many benefits of cooperation and take the opportunity to educate
others about the value of cooperative businesses.
Cooperative Network’s 2015 Co-op Month theme, “Take Ownership,” celebrates how the
cooperative business model gives consumers and workers a real stake in their economic
destinies. Because cooperatives are owned and controlled by the people who use or deliver their services, decisions are made with the best interests of co-op members in mind—
not to financially benefit corporate stockholders. From attending an annual meeting to
serving on the cooperative’s board of directors, members are educated and encouraged to
be actively involved in setting policies and shaping the future of their cooperatives.

The Alamosa Coop is located on 1311 West Ave. The Alamosa branch is here to serve loyal customers and fresh, new faces. In our starting lineup we have James Martinez and Isaiah Valenzuela who have devoted their time greatly to this team. Whether it is to fill up propane, help load
fencing supplies or feed in customer's vehicles, these two running backs will always catch what
you throw at them. Our recovering fullback, Leon Bolt, took some time off due to a deflated
knee, which is still under inspection. However, he is very happy to be back with the team and is
very helpful with customers and makes deliveries in Gunnison, Salida, Crestone and Howard. Tight end, Scott Taylor, is always there when we need him. He too helps with sales and
delivers all up north and southwest of the San Luis Valley. Star quarterback, Jerry Bogner, is our
MVP. Being the leader of this team, Bogner always makes sure the job that needs to be finished,
gets done quickly and correctly. Jerry also assists with deliveries down south of the valley. Last
but not least, lineladies Megan Mueller Jones and Kaily Yarbrough help with sales and make sure
customers stay refreshed with drinks and snacks while waiting for their order to be completed. At the Alamosa Coop, the customers never lose the coin toss! Come and see us today!
