Tun/ Tan Sri/ Dato’ Sri/ Datuk/ Dato’/ Datin/ Tuan/ Puan, Please be informed that the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) is in the midst of gathering feedback and views regarding a proposal to regulate Single Pricing Policy in Malaysia. This proposed regulation would involve amendment to Trade Description Act 2011. This online public consultation is conducted to enable KPDNKK to take into consideration of all views and feedback from relevant stakeholders in order to advocate the Government’s commitment to transparency. Therefore, KPDNKK would like to invite all relevant stakeholders and any other interested parties to participate in this public consultation process and communicate their views and feedback. Public Engagement on Single Pricing Policy in Malaysia (Consumer) Single Pricing is described accordingly: “When prices are advertised, products must clearly display a Single Price which is the minimum total cost* that is able to be calculated. This should include: (i) The price of all aspects of the final product and/or service (ii) All taxes, duties and extra fees.” Misleading Pricing is described accordingly: “When price are advertised, products are displayed with a base price that does not represent the minimum total cost* attainable, and is subject to additional charges which may be hidden in fine-prints and disclaimers. This might include: (i) The price of additional aspects of the final product and/or service (ii) All taxes, duties and extra fees.” *The minimum total cost is defined as the real price which the consumer must pay to obtain the product and/or service.
