Neurobiology Research Lab-Daniela Kaufer Lab at UC Berkeley

Spring 2012-now

 Conduct own research project on maternal care and stress manipulation effects on female rats, observe changes in brain structure and composition due to natural variations in maternal car, conduct cell-cultures, perform immunestaining techniques, use light microscopy to visualize cells, present results at MCB Departmental poster session and received Outstanding Poster Award

 Acquire first-hand know-hows in conducting neurobiological experiments, improve problem-solving and critical thinking skills, communicate effectively with postdocs and PI in the process.

Volunteer Experience

Alta Bates Hospital Volunteer

Fall 2014-now

Conduct detailed daily reports of revenue and patron numbers at the Hospital gift shop, direct patients and visitors to the appropriate area of the premises, assist volunteer coordinator and staff as a bilingual (Mandarin) interpreter in case of needs.

Improve time-management skills, create friendly atmosphere for the patients, make accommodations for people with disabilities.

Health Service Internship-Asian Health Services Youth Program

Spring 2015

Work as an intern and teacher of sex education in middle schools in the Oakland area, organize database of Medicaid patients, design posters for special events, work with youth to assist them in teen issues.

 Improved skills in communicating with youth, learned to be more open to various personalities and cultures, appreciate the diversity in the Oakland area and the issues that needs to be addressed today.
