Setting the Standard Through Customer Focus
®
Carrier’s familiar blue oval symbolizes industryleading innovation for not only business and industry,
but also for residential and transport refrigeration as
well. With headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut,
Carrier conducts business in more than 171 countries, combining product excellence, technological
advances, and world-renowned customer service to
lead in nearly every geographic market.
®
Backed by an extensive global distribution and service network, progressive research and
engineering facilities, and the vast resources of United Technologies, Carrier takes its leadership
into the 21st century — fully prepared for the growing worldwide demand for its products.
Meeting that demand are over 70 manufacturing facilities worldwide — 10 million square
feet of production space — all geared to meet the specific needs of local markets for world-class
HVAC/R equipment. Lean production methods put the best of technology at the disposal of
skilled employees. Global production teams ensure
that innovations in process and method are adopted
quickly. A network of supplier-partners keeps
high-quality parts and components available when
needed. And local cross-functional teams work to
boost productivity, shorten delivery times, and
maintain the highest product quality. Every undertaking is borne of an employee culture that manages
quality issues with hard facts.
The bottom line: customer satisfaction. Every
action in a Carrier facility is in some way ultimately intended to benefit customers. But don’t
take our word for it: Experience the results for yourself.

A Solution for Every Application
Chillers
Air-Cooled
In 1902, only one year after he graduated from
Cornell University with a master’s degree in engineering,
Willis Carrier designed his first air conditioning system.
His customer was a frustrated Brooklyn, N.Y., printer
who could not print a quality color
image because heat and humidity
changes at his plant kept altering the
paper’s dimensions just enough to
ensure misalignment of the colored
inks. The problem was solved by this
young engineer who worked at
Buffalo Forge Company for a weekly
salary of $10.
Willis Carrier secured his first of
several patents (Patent #808897) in
1906 for his “Apparatus for Treating Air.” In 1911, he
presented his basic “Rational Psychrometric Formulae”
to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
These principles formed the basis for all fundamental
calculations in the air conditioning industry — and are
still used today. Determined to further revolutionize
air conditioning technology, Carrier and six other
engineers formed the Carrier Engineering Corporation
in 1915 with a starting capital of $35,000.
Today, Carrier Corporation continues
to build on the pioneering spirit of its
founder. As the world’s leading HVAC
company, Carrier boasts production,
sales, and service operations in more
than 171 countries. We manufacture a
growing array of innovative products —
all designed to meet the exacting facility
needs of our customers. We complement
these products with leading-edge
controls, service programs, and quality
parts to ensure operational efficiency and complete
owner/occupant satisfaction throughout the life of
the system.

All Carrier HVAC design programs are
written and fully supported by fieldexperienced HVAC systems engineers.
A series of software programs is also available to HVAC designers to assist in the selection,
specification, and application of specific Carrier models of commercial HVAC equipment. Each
class of equipment (e.g., rooftop cooling/heating units) has its own program that can be downloaded separately. A selection procedure provides outputs with all pertinent engineering information
about the selected unit — as applied. One such program, Carrier’s AHUBuilder software, intuitively
builds the system for you, graphically depicting the unit as options are added and calculating
system performance.
Need some additional help in choosing the right product? Carrier provides CD-ROMs that contain product data descriptions for a
