RESPONDERS' COMMENTS FOR EC 420 730 (US15)
Question 31: Do you have any comments or suggestions for organizing the course?
• A lot of students should have the same concern that i think the score she gave is unreasonable. Sometimes the average score is very high, sometimes is very low. I
do think the answer i have is not too much different from the answer key she gave, but she would only give me 0.
• confusing, its clearly a waste of money to take this class online
• Critical course for Econ major!!!
• Instructor as in the person who recorded the uploaded video, correct? If not, everything would go between Superior and Above Average.
• it is a online course, so i dont know how to say about it.
• It's too hard.
• need office hour for this course.
• No
• noe
• Nope
• NOt too much Overall, it is very orgnized and specific
• One disadvatage for this class is that the instructor does not have the office hour and even not available by appointment. I think it is ok to contact with the instructor
by email, but most of time, the instructor does not reply my email. I think it is very important to understand the material that we learned from this course by asking
the instructor what we did not understand. When I have a question about the topic from the video, I have no one could answer it for me. So I think the most
important improvement for this course is having office hour and communicate with the instructor face to face to strengthen what we've learned.
• Online course with no chance for face time with instructor made class more difficult than it had to be in terms of knowing what the TA was looking for.
• presentation and homework too difficult to understand, I mean sometimes it's hard to catch the key point.
• Teacher bearly spoke English it was very hard trying to talk to her face to face.
• The slide is just too much to be covered in 2 months.
• The woman running the course was great, but the professor giving the online lectures was terrible. All negative comments are in regard to the online lectures
• This was the last course i had to take for my degree. I was a student taking this as my first class at Michigan State University which was offered through lifelong
education. As a graduating student from the University of Colorado Boulder whos ECON department did not offer a course like this over the summer, this class
literally saved me from another fall semester of tuition. :)))) The instructor (Wei Lin) was outstanding in responding to questions via email on time (Sometimes within
just a few minutes even on weekends) and was also very punctual with grading the homework assignments. Her English was actually pretty good too(Only saying
this because my previous experience with foreign-born instructors it has been very difficult to understand what they are saying during lectures... not the case with
Wei Lin though. Overall great instructor, would definitely recommend. Perhaps updating the online audio lecture slides for EC 420 so they are newer than July of
2010 might be a good idea.... Also Teaching higher level of Stata skills would probably be more relevant to the real world than the theoretical aspects which this
course heavily focused on. Overall though fantastic course and phenomenal instructor. Beyond all however, Sko Buffs class of 2K15 BABAY :DDDDDDDDDDDDD
• Tough course
• Very tough material, and then accelerated makes this class a true challenge, but teacher makes it possible. She has been open to questions and i challenged her on
a grading of my homework, and was very open to checking it and giving me any points she could find. Overall rate the class 8/10
