BROADWAY REHABILITATION: WELTON ST. TO PARK AVE. WEST
Brought to you by Parsons and Lawson Construction Company
Phase 1 rehabilitation on the Broadway Project is nearly complete! The City and
County of Denver and its general contractors, Parsons and Lawson Construction,
began rehabilitation of Broadway from Welton Street to Park Avenue West in early
March 2011. In early July, crews anticipate shifting southbound traffic to the newly
paved roadway and begin Phase 2 demolition and rehabilitation of the center lanes
of Broadway. The northbound travel lanes will remain in their current configuration
until mid-summer. Travel lanes will continue to be reduced to two lanes in the southbound direction
and one lane northbound with periodic single lane and partial intersection closures
occurring as necessary. At least one point of access to businesses will be
maintained throughout the duration of the project.
As part of the City and County of Denver’s Better Denver Bond Program, this $3.7
million project provides for the removal of existing asphalt pavement and the
rehabilitation of 2,900 linear feet of roadway, curb and gutter and sidewalks in longer
lasting concrete. The project also includes intersection enhancements; installation of
new traffic signals at 20th/California, Stout and Champa Streets; drainage
improvements and curb and gutter upgrades; sidewalk and ADA pedestrian ramp
improvements; and new lighting, signage and pavement marking.

In addition to the Broadway Rehabilitation project, there is work currently being
performed by others that may impact traffic on Broadway including the installation
of new street lights on both sides of Broadway by Xcel, and the installation of a
new water line by Denver Water along Lawrence St. and crossing Broadway.
