BROADWAY REHABILITATION: WELTON ST. TO PARK AVE. WEST
Brought to you by Parsons and Lawson Construction Company
Crews are nearly complete with Phase 2 of the Broadway Rehabilitation
Project and are ready to begin the third and final phase! As part of the City
and County of Denver’s Better Denver Bond Program, general contractors
Parsons and Lawson Construction, began the $3.7 million rehabilitation of
Broadway from Welton Street to Park Avenue West in early March 2011.
In late August, crews will shift the northbound travel lane to the newly paved
center lane of Broadway and begin Phase 3 demolition and rehabilitation
operations on the east side of Broadway between 20th Street and Park
Avenue West. Travel lanes will continue to be reduced to one lane in the
northbound direction and two lanes southbound. Periodic single lane and
partial intersection closures may occur and at least one point of access to
businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Phase 3 rehabilitation operations include paving in longer lasting concrete in
addition to east side intersection enhancements; installation of new traffic
signals at 20th/California, Stout and Champa Streets; drainage improvements
and curb and gutter upgrades; sidewalk and ADA pedestrian ramp
improvements; and new lighting, signage and pavement markings.
Once all rehabilitation activities are complete, crews will restripe the roadway
and return traffic to its final configuration with two lanes in the north- and
southbound direction and center median turn lanes. Project completion is
anticipated for early October, weather permitting.
ATTENTION BROADWAY-FACING BUILDING OWNERS
In preparation for upcoming street demolition and rehabilitation
activities on the east side of Broadway, the Public Works
Department must identify all building structures where the basement
or vault extends beyond the property right-of-way line underneath
the sidewalk and/or street.
If you own a building on the east side of Broadway, please contact
Nanci Regnier at (720) 306-8229 at your earliest convenience to
schedule a site visit with Public Works staff to evaluate any potential
impacts and develop a plan for avoidance or mitigation. Be sure to
leave your name, address and contact information after the
recording and we will return your call immediately. Thank you!
Parsons and Lawson Construction appreciate your patience and
cooperation during construction. Please do not hesitate to contact
us at (720) 306-8229 with questions or concerns.
