RTP Holdings Local Startup Brings Digital Dream Team to Win UPenn App Challenge Philadelphia, June 30, 2015 — RTP Holdings, a Philadelphia area early-stage technology company, was named first place winner at the PACT Wayfinding App Challenge judging event here last night. The local startup won first place by assembling a top-notch mobile app development team to create a new beta app, now available in the Apple iTunes App Store, called The @UPenn Xperience. The new app helps students and visitors to Penn’s campus navigate and discover the art filled campus and surrounding city. The app helps people explore the campus and all of the great attractions the city of Philadelphia has to offer with detailed information populated by Philadelphia’s Open APIs and geo-tagged photos about the featured art and points-of-interest all around the region. The PACT App Challenge program was funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, and sponsored by Independence Blue Cross and the University of Pennsylvania. Two competition tracks were geared to Campus Wayfinding at the University of Pennsylvania, and Healthcare Management for Diabetes Patients. The first place winners received $30,000, out of the total $90,000 prize pool. The finalist event featured an intense live judging round at the Independence Blue Cross Innovation Center. The submission process ran for two months, including one week of public voting and judging. The judging criteria were based on a variety of categories: quality of idea, implementation of idea, potential impact, and sustainability. 100s of registrants were narrowed down to 8 finalists for the final judging event and awards ceremony. This was the first public demonstration of RTP Holdings’ Lokita SolutionTM for indoor micro-location mobile apps. The demo system was powered by SemperCon, and beautified by Organic Grid. "Our ‘Team Lokita’, including SemperCon for backend integration, and Organic Grid for front-end design, created a phenomenal demo, and virtually had the public opinion vote locked up with over 500 views on our Lokita Solutions YouTube Channel. We were able to put together the ‘Digital Dream Team’ for this competition," exclaimed Chet Dagit, Managing Director of RTP Holdings. SemperCon’s extensive experience with geo-location technologies, mobile app development, and geo-fencing solutions, made for an ideal agile-scrum team model, and collaborative approach, on this very fast paced demo system development effort.
