ABOUT THE AUTHOR Deidhre Wauchop is the Manager of the Creative Arts Unit, nsw Department of Education, and a dance lecturer at unsw. Deidhre has taught dance in schools and is co-founder and treasurer of the Dance Educators Professional Association, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing support and inspiration for dance students and teachers. She has a Masters degree in Creative Arts Education with a major in Dance. Deidhre has choreographed over 120 works for school, education department, university and professional organisations, and she has embraced innovations in technology, making dance videos and virtual dances. Hundreds of practical activities guide students to understand simple concepts such as duration, tempo and stillness, through to more complex concepts such as rhythmic patterns, phrasing and time relationships. Students will also learn about the important role of music in dance composition through understanding similarities and differences of time and dynamics in music and dance.
