TOP UNIVERSITIES COMING TO TORONTO FOR STUDY AND GO ABROAD FAIR On September 26 and 27th, students, parents, professionals, educators and all those interested in studying and living abroad will converge at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North to meet with representatives from over 100 universities and colleges from all over the world, to learn about top-ranking Undergraduate and Graduate programs, both at home and overseas. Many of the universities attending the Study and Go Abroad University Fair are consistently ranked top in the world. To give you an example of the prestigious line-up at the fairs: University College of London – ranked 4th in the world (according to QS World University Rankings) in 2009 and 2010; Kings College London ranked 23rd; UCLA at 35th; and the Politecnico di Milano, ranked as one of the top European universities in Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design, and in many disciplines, regarded as a leading research institution worldwide. The fair will host many institutions in the top 200 in the world including Australia’s University of Melbourne, University of Western Australia and Monash University; UK’s University of Bristol, University of Bath, University of Warwick, Queen Mary, University of London and Cardiff University; the US, top-ranking universities coming include Purdue, Penn State, Stony Brook, UCLA, University of Southern California; and from Korea, Korea University. The Study and Go Abroad Fair, now in its seventeenth year, will welcome approximately 2,000 visitors who will have a unique opportunity to explore Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs in a wide range of subject areas. A program of hourly seminars will run throughout the event and will start an hour before the fair opens each day with feature speaker Jean-Marc Hachey, author of The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas. The seminar program is varied, highly informative and interesting. Admission is free! Almost 30,000 Canadians went to the US to study in the 2008/2009 academic year; 4,400 studied in Australia (2007), and the Universities and Colleges Admissions Services (UCAS) reports that the number of Canadian applicants to UK universities increased by 19.4% in January 2010 versus 2009.
