Your Street Connects to Lakes and Rivers
A stormwater educational display produced by University of Minnesota
Water Resources Center and University of Minnesota Extension Service.
Funded by a Metropolitan Council MetroEnvironment Partnership Grant.
Description:
Simple in design, the display shares the message that streets and yards connect to lakes, rivers, and
wetlands through storm sewers. What goes down the street drain – be it either water or a water
pollutant – comes out in our waters at the other end. This is demonstrated by viewing the display as a
poster, or by pouring water or rolling “pollution balls” (labeled with “soil”, “oil”, “pet waste”, etc.)
down the pipe.
Availability:
Twenty-two displays have been distributed throughout the Twin Cities Metro area. A listing of those
with displays is on the reverse side of this sheet. If you are not closely associated with an
organizations with a display, contact one of the following educational materials clearing houses for
