Your Street Connects to Lakes and Rivers A stormwater educational display produced by University of Minnesota Water Resources Center and University of Minnesota Extension Service. Funded by a Metropolitan Council MetroEnvironment Partnership Grant. Description: Simple in design, the display shares the message that streets and yards connect to lakes, rivers, and wetlands through storm sewers. What goes down the street drain – be it either water or a water pollutant – comes out in our waters at the other end. This is demonstrated by viewing the display as a poster, or by pouring water or rolling “pollution balls” (labeled with “soil”, “oil”, “pet waste”, etc.) down the pipe. Availability: Twenty-two displays have been distributed throughout the Twin Cities Metro area. A listing of those with displays is on the reverse side of this sheet.
