You have now read “The Devil and Tom Walker” by Washington Irving and have
heard the song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by The Charlie Daniel’s Band. Both
are similar stories but have different settings and endings. We have also discussed the
theme of the Devil tempting mortals in many other media styles. Now it is your turn to
use this familiar theme.
Write a short story about selling your soul to the Devil. Be creative. Your setting
may be Starpoint, in the future, the past, anywhere you like. What temptations will your
main character face? Is it worth the price of a soul? How does the Devil finally triumph?
Or is the main character actually successful over the Devil? Is there repercussions for this
success?
