Handout to Help those who want to Share the Gospel with Others.
How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of
whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how
can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written ‘how beautiful are the feet of those who bring
good news’. (Romans 10 v14,15)
For the message/preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who
are being saved it is the power of God. (1Cor 1 v18)
Various Quotes about Evangelism
No pursuit of mortal men is to be compared with that of soul-winning. Charles Spurgeon
You do not have to be perfect to share the love of Christ with someone. But you do have to be pursuing a right
relationship with God. If you are not, your witnessing will be ineffective. Scott Hinkle
The early disciples were fishers of men - while modern disciples are often little more than aquarium keepers.
The Holy Spirit convicts us...He shows us the Ten Commandments; the Law is the schoolmaster that leads us
to Christ. We look at the mirror of the Ten Commandments, and we see ourselves in that mirror. Billy Graham
It is the ordinary method of the Spirit of God to convict sinners by the Law. It is this which, being set home
in the conscience, generally breaks the rocks in pieces. It is more especially this part of the Word of God
which is quick and powerful, full of life and energy and sharper than any two-edged sword. John Wesley
We must thrust the Sword of the Spirit into the hearts of men.
Evangelism is the cure to the disease of church boredom..
Charles Spurgeon
Todd Mc Callum
The conscience of a man, when he is really quickened and awakened by the Holy Spirit, speaks the
truth. It rings the great alarm bell. And if he turns over in his bed, that great alarm bell rings
out again and again, “The wrath to come! The wrath to come!” Charles Spurgeon

(pair up with another Christian and try a minute on each!)
If there is a God of love - why does He allow all the suffering in the world?
If God is all powerful - why can’t He stop all the evil in the world?
The Bible has been changed and is only men’s ideas anyway!
I try my best and I'm sure if there is a God He knows that, and will let me into heaven.
No-one knows if there is a God anyway, and no-one has come back from the dead to prove it!
Science proves we’ve all evolved from monkeys, so God is a figment of people's imagination!
When you’re dead that's the end - anything spiritual is only superstition and make-believe!
We can find truth in many different religions - I choose what I believe from many faiths.
I have my own opinions about religion and don't like people trying to force theirs on me!
No thank you I’m a:- Catholic/JW/atheist/good living person etc.
Offering Literature
● Smile and look people in the eyes.
● Always say something as you offer a tract; eg ‘A Christian leaflet’ (avoid using the word tract)
● Look for interest, then engage in conversation; eg ‘Do you ever think about Christian things?’- then listen!
● Be polite; ‘sir’ or ‘madam’, and ‘thank you’ even if they refuse.
● Leave more specific literature/CD after a good conversation; encourage them to read John’s Gospel.
● If you had a good conversation say at the end - ‘my name is…’ and you are…?’ (Write details in notepad)
Giving Your testimony (call it ‘your story’)
1) Before – without embellishment/ be honest/ maybe a few examples of what you were like before.
2) How it happened – repentance/faith; how Jesus became personal and real; maybe quote Scriptures.
3) After - changes in your life – a few current examples of changed habits etc; desire now to live for God.
(ps - try to avoid religious jargon such as ‘saved’,’ redeemed’, ‘justified’, ‘iniquities’– or if you have to, briefly explain meaning)
