The 18th Knesset Bill by MK Ofir Akunis Submitting: The Associations Act (Amendment – Banning Foreign Diplomatic Entities' Support of Political Associations in Israel) Amending Section 36a: 1. In the Associations Act - 1980, Subsection 36A (1) In subsection (a), the definition "foreign diplomatic entity" shall be followed by: ""A Political Association" - an association whose goals include an attempt to impact on the State of Israel's political and security agenda, or an association in the framework of which activities of political nature take place;"; (2) Subsection (a) shall be followed by: "(a1) A political association will not receive a donation exceeding 20,000 NIS a year from a foreign diplomatic entity."; (3) In subsection (b1), "an association" shall be followed by: "that is not a political association,". Explanations This bill is meant to ban associations in Israel from receiving donations from foreign governments or international bodies such as the United Nations or the European Union, in view of the inciting activities of many organizations that operate under the guise of "human rights organizations" and intend to impact on the political discourse in, nature, and policy of the State of Israel. It is intolerable that the State of Israel should freely and declaratively allow other world's states to intervene in its domestic affairs. This amendment does not intend to harm social or other associations. It is meant to prevent foreign states from intervening in Israeli politics through supporting associations of political nature, and to put an end to the intervention of foreign bodies in determining the future and nature of, and life in the State of Israel.
