He is engaged by families to assist as their “family counsel”. Alexander’s practice focused on assisting individuals and entities with estate and gift tax planning and administration, charitable giving, employee benefits, general state and federal income taxation, entity (corporate and partnership) tax and structuring, qualified and non-qualified compensation planning, and business succession, both domestically and in the cross border context. He has represented various clients including business owners, entertainers, hedge fund and private equity principals, athletes, corporate executives and real estate developers. A couple of additional areas of particular expertise include assisting same-sex couples and art collectors and artists with their planning needs. Immediately prior to joining JPMorgan, Alex was at a midsize law firm in NYC, Herrick Feinstein, LLP, as counsel in their Trusts and Estates and Tax departments. Prior to Herrick, he spent more than three years at another midsize law firm, Hodgson Russ, LLP, as a partner in their Trusts and Estates department. Alex managed planning in the NYC and Palm Beach, Florida, offices of Hodgson. Prior to Hodgson he spent time in a family office and with a large regional accounting firm.
