Artist must develop their observational skills before becoming true artists. This is a skill we must work to build. 6. Now what colors do you see? 7. Describe the shape of the fruit? 8. How does the fruit feel in you hand? 9. Look carefully at the fruit and see the changes in values caused from the different effects that lighting has upon the objects. Look for the highlights and shadows. 10.Look at how the fruit appears to grow. You would represent the shape of the fruit with contour pencil strokes. 11.View and discuss student and teacher examples of drawings of fruit. 12.Students will select a color and find a least 4 other values or hues of that color to create a 5 block gradual value scales. 13.Discuss fruit requirements VOCABULARY Still life light contour shade highlights shadows hue value scale MOTIVATIONAL MATERIALS Fruit game Teacher and student examples Famous still life drawings and paintings PROJECT MATERIALS Newsprint for practice sketches 12/18 white drawing paper Small post it notes HB pencil eraser Colored pencils PROCEDURE 1.
