After finishing the film version of Hawthorne’s short story, complete ONE of the three following:
Write a film critique of Rappachini’s Daughter for the News and Observer. Address how the film
demonstrates certain tones, characterization, and what themes are addressed.
Write 2-3 journal entries from Beatrice’s point of view, addressing her father’s actions and her reactions
to Giovanni and keeping within character.
Create a graphic short story of Rappachini’s Daughter. How would you portray tone, characterization,
and the theme of the story? (Only attempt this if you have the artistic skill or the computer skill to do a
graphic novel justice)
