Many techniques are used in the dissemination of propaganda. First, define propaganda.

Assignment #1: Find examples of propaganda used in mass media today (television,
magazines, advertisements, billboards, internet, etc.) Select two types from above and be
prepared to explain how the examples of propaganda that you found fit the category and
what effect the propaganda has on the reader.
Propaganda in Animal Farm
Assignment #2: As you read Animal farm, find examples of propaganda used by the pigs.
Under each type of propaganda, list one example from the text, citing page numbers.
Then answer the following questions for each:
 What are the pigs trying to achieve with this propaganda?
 How effective is their use of propaganda?
 What point is Orwell trying to make about people in general with these examples
