Invention Show Objective The class will work in groups of 3-5 students and create a presentation using Zoho Show. Their project topic will be based on an invention that made a difference in our world. The students will research and present this project to the peers in their class. Learning Environment The students will use computers with internet access in the computer lab or a computer at home Types of Students The students will be in secondary school and specifically grades 7-10. The groups will each pick an invention that they think made a difference in our world and each member will individually research the chosen invention. Important pieces of information that they should research are: History of the invention How does it work? How it has made a difference in our world? Comparisons of how it was used then and how it is used now What technology was used to create this invention? Procedures 2. When the groups have compiled enough information about their topics and documented the information, they will then learn how to use Zoho Show. 3. After they have learned how to use Zoho Show, they will then create a presentation showcasing their invention (the important pieces of information must be included amongst others). 4. When the presentation is finished, the students will then present their projects to each other in class. 5. Finalizing the project, the students will write a 1 page essay explaining the process of using researching their invention, making their presentation, presenting their project, and how the invention changed the world. The essay will be free of grammar errors, typed and double-spaced in Times New Roman/Cambria, 12 point font. Application The students will create a presentation using Zoho Show to showcase a specific invention. They will then write an essay explaining the processes of the project. During the presentation, the students will be evaluated by their peers based upon communication skills, organization of their presentation, participation of group members, and how much the invention changed made a difference in our world compared to the other inventions presented. Evaluation The students will be evaluated based on the following: Individual research – 20 points Content of presentation – 10 points Peer evaluation of presentation – 10 points 1 page essay – 20 points 60 points
