Week 2: Read extract from Dracula. Highlight similar features. Look at differences in language. Plan and begin drafting stories in horror genre. Revise subordinate clauses – complete draft and write up. This can be quite a slow starter but they invariably get hooked. Look at certain sections closely – (copies provided. Also on OHT) Opening clues, description of ‘the hunt’. In pairs – class highlight ‘tense’ features. Feedback paras on OHT. Look at variety – good features. Look at purposes – intro of character setting, intro story – interest.
