Lab Demonstration # 1 - Factors Affecting the Rate of Osmosis
Draw a diagram of the setup of the lab experiment.
Procedure
1. Create two artificial “cells” using dialysis tubing.
2. Place both glucose and starch inside both cells.
3. Place both “cells” in a beaker of water so that the water just covers the “cell”.
4. Leave one beaker on the lab bench and heat the other one to at least 60oC.
5. Wait for 20 minutes.
6. Perform a starch and a monosaccharide test on the water outside the “cell” from each beaker.
7. Record your observations.
