SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT Purpose To lend perspective to where students were as Freshmen and where they are now as Seniors using the Grad at Grad document. To awaken the realization that for the Christian, service to others is a responsibility and a privilege by discussing service projects, life at Regis Jesuit High School and their lives. To kindle or rekindle an understanding of hope, compassion, and faith by putting into action the Grad at Grad document as they move into the future. Requirements Attend and participate in each of the six Capstone Seminars. (If the student is absent, he will be required to write a 2-page typed reflection of the meeting he missed.) Create a project summarizing their service projects and their experience at Regis Jesuit High School. Present their finished projects to a panel of three faculty/staff members in April. The faculty is randomly placed to assure fairness in grading the projects. At least five projects will be selected for display or presentation at the Baccalaureate Dinner. Projects Seniors may use poetry, video, essay, art, song, or photography as their media. Your Capstone Seminar Faculty Facilitator will approve your project. Your project is to incorporate at least one point in the Grad at Grad document, your experience at Regis and a theme from your service journal entries. The rubrics for projects are as follows: Poetry Write one or several poems (total 40-50 lines) Use either an identifiable rhythm such as iambic pentameter or free verse Include a variety of techniques of figurative language such as imagery , personification, similes and/ or metaphors Short Story Approximately 1500 words ( 6- 7 pages typed) Clear plot with a clear conflict Identifiable theme Written Interpretation Identify persons that embody elements of the Grad at Grad from your personal experience during your four years at Regis Jesuit High School Demonstrate with concrete examples Approximately 1500 words typed Newspaper At least 3 - 8 1/2x11" pages Banner headline Column format 1 example of text wrap and layering Vary types of articles: features, editorial, cartoons Graphics on each page Vary font type and size Web Page Main page 4-5 other pages Navigation bar Appropriate background and color scheme 5 internal links Several external links Appropriate graphics/create a leader, etc. Power Point Consistent design and background Readable - good font choice for program Graphics/animation/transitions that all reflect your theme Appropriate background music Minimum of 10 slides 7-7 rule PC compatible Art Identify a theme from journal entries, the Grad at Grad and your experience at Regis Jesuit High School. Painting 18x24 minimum Oil, watercolor, or acrylic Monochromic or full color Imagery, surrealism, impressionistic, or realism Must be original No abstract Drawing Pencil, charcoal, color pencil, pastel, pen/ink 18x24 minimum Video 7 minutes No group work Include graphics, narration, and appropriate music Typed script Sculpture and Computer Graphics: See Mr. Newton or Mr. Timme Music: see Ms. Quinn Photo Essay: see Mr. Buckley - one page written component necessary Other original ideas may be cleared with your Capstone Seminar Faculty Facilitator or Ms. Capen.
