MOCK TRIAL:
DR. FRANKENSTEIN VS.
THE MONSTER
Court is
in session…..
Who should be held responsible for the death of William
Frankenstein, Justine Moritz, Henry Clerval, and Elizabeth
Lavenza?
Dr. Frankenstein vs. the Monster
You and your classmates are going to stage a mock trial
for Dr. Victor Frankenstein vs. The Monster for the abovementioned charges. Our classroom will transform into a
civil courtroom before your very eyes. Each of you will
play a part in the final decision. Who should be charged
with murder?
Each of you will be given a specific role and are asked to
“become the part.” You must act, speak, look and sound
like your character as much as you can. You are welcome
to dress like your character and/or bring in props to use.
* All costumes/props brought from home must be
addressed to me before they are brought in class.
The following characters will be assigned to you:
Victor Frankenstein, the ghost of William Frankenstein, the
ghost of Justine Moritz, the ghost of Henry Clerval, the ghost
of Elizabeth Lavenza, the monster, witnesses for the plaintiff,
witnesses for the defendant, attorney for the plaintiff, attorney
for the defendant, the judge, the jury, and the Baliff.
I will individually discuss with you the responsibilities
required to adapt to your specific role and what is expected of
you for this project. The goal for this project is to initiate a
high-level thinking debate that will entail strong arguments
and subject knowledge. Each person will be given a chance to
speak, but it is your job to make the best of the short time you
will be given. Remember, this court case is ONLY a total of 60
minutes.
During the time you are given to work with your peers, it is
very important that you work with the people who will benefit
your argument and overall performance in the courtroom.
