Declaration of Plagiarism and Honesty Plagiarism is intellectual theft. It means using the work/writing of another person without proper attribution. Plagiarism results in stealing or passing off the work of another person as one’s own ideas, words, or work. Credit must be given for every direct quotation, for paraphrasing or summarizing a work (in whole or part) in one’s own words, for information which is not common knowledge, or for ideas which are not one’s own. Also, using a past paper which belongs to an older sibling, friends, etc. will constitute as plagiarism. In the final research paper if credit is not given for someone else’s work, the paper will not earn a grade and the student will receive an “F” for the class which will put the student’s graduation in jeopardy. Forgery results in student lying about fieldwork hours completed or in faking signatures. Any attempt by a student to engage in forgery and dishonesty will invalidate the fieldwork hours and will result in a student not passing the Fieldwork segment of the senior project. This will therefore put graduation also in jeopardy. I fully understand the consequences of plagiarism and forgery with regard to the senior project and take full responsibility to present a research paper and fieldwork free of either or the result will jeopardize graduation. ________________________________________ (Student Signature) _________________ (Date) ________________________________________ (Parent Signature) __________________ (Date)
