Introduction to Speech: FINAL EXAM!! Assignment: You will be creating and performing your final speech. You have the choice of two presentations. Regardless of your choice, your speech must have a written outline in the format we have been using all semester, and the presentation must be at least two minutes long. In addition, you must also turn in a copy of your poem or top ten list. Choice One: The Personal Poetry Project Write a poem that expresses YOU, and bring it to life. Your poem must have a multi-media presentation that follows the tone of the poem. I suggest that you use the “I am from” poems as a template for your own poem, but you may use a different style if you discuss it first with me. Once you have written your poem, create your presentation. Your poem presentation must be at least two minutes long and must be presented to the class during finals. Your presentation must include pictures that correspond with you poem. Power Point allows you to create a slide show that will change pictures while you speak. If you choose to use a program other than Power Point, please let me know. You may also choose to put your poem to music. You have creative freedom in this project to use any school appropriate pictures and devices you choose, but the end product must maintain a poetic feel. Choice Two: The Personal Top Ten List Write a list of the top ten things you have learned in speech class. These can be directly related to the speeches, or related to our class in general. You should rank these in order from 10—least important, to 1—most important. Once you have created your list, prepare a presentation to display your list. Power Point is the most likely choice for this; however, if there is another computer program you would like to use, let me know ahead of time. Most “top ten” lists are funny—try your hand at some humor! Remember that half of telling a good joke is the presentation—your presentation must be timed and planned well for this speech to work. Expectations: I expect to be impressed. This is your creation—and you have plenty of time to compose it. I expect that you will consider everything that we have covered thus far in speech class, and put together a speech that will “wow” your audience. I expect that you will be creative and have fun with this assignment. I expect that you will make this speech something to be proud of.
