Goal Report Essay
For my eighth grade project, I am learning how to play the guitar. The things that
made me choose this idea is because my idol Justin Bieber knows how to play the guitar
and I’ve always wanted to be able to play music like the professionals. Also, some of
my friends are very good at playing instruments and I'd like to know what it feels like to
be good at something besides sports. Plus, I love the sound of music and I know being
able to make music has always been one of my dreams. I am interested in learning how
to play the guitar because ever since i was little i wanted to play the guitar. Also, I've
wanted to be successful with and instrument and I love the noise of the guitar. For my
final product, I will be either playing for sick children in the children’s hospital or making a
youtube video of my progress.
Throughout my project I will be using many sources. A source I will for sure be
using is a guitar for dummies book. To achieve my goal I will also be using my classmate
Kaitlin because she’s very good at guitar and she knows most things about guitar. Also, I
will use youtube videos as one of my other sources. I will also use the internet to help me
learn how to use the guitar and when to use this note or not. I will evaluate the
effectiveness of my sources. I don't think that the internet can be a very effective source
because people can easily put false information on the internet.
During this project I am going to need many materials. I am for sure going to need
a guitar for this 8th Grade Project, considering my project is involving guitar. Also, to
finish the research I will need a computer with internet access to find information I need.
Also, I will need to have a mentor that knows how to play the guitar or else I won't be able
to do my project. Also, I will need books to find my research to learn the need-to-knows of
the guitar. Before the project is completed, I will have to have a guitar pick because it
makes playing the guitar a lot easier. To find the information I might also need to have
youtube because it shows tutorials. Overall to finish this project, I will need many
materials.
To achieve my final goal, there will be many steps to follow. For the first part I will
have to learn how to read sheets of music and learn which notes are which. Plus I will
have to learn how to write sheet music and know the parts of guitar. After that, I will have
to know the proper ways to strum the guitar and hold down the right notes. Plus, I will
have to learn the right notes and match it to the music .Then, I will have to know how to
put it all together which will require a lot of practice. In the end, to achieve my goal of
learning how to play the guitar, I will have to follow these steps carefully.
By the end of this project I hope to learn many things. I hope to learn how to play
the guitar, obviously. Also I hope to learn how to read music sheets. I also hope to learn
from my numerous mistakes I plan on making from this project. Plus, I hope to learn a lot
of life lessons from this project, and hopefully be able to learn from them and help me in
the future. I think I will learn a lot about myself than I think I know now and throughout
this year long project. I think this project will help me know how to play music and gain
confidence to do it in front of other people. Overall, I think I will learn so many things
throughout this project, including my goal of learning how to play the guitar.
