(EDL 665) Educational Leadership Common Course Assessment: Vision Statement Assignment Common Course Standards Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) 2002 Standards 1.1 – Develop a Vision 1.2 – Articulate a Vision 1.3 – Implement a Vision 1.4 – Steward a Vision 1.5 – Promote Community Involvement in the Vision Directions to the Student During the summer vacation you were selected to be the new principal of a school. You will have your first staff meeting the first day that the entire staff reports in September. At this staff meeting you will present your vision for the school and all of the members of its community. You are required to write your vision speech; to present a copy of it to your “mock” school improvement team (your assigned classmates) for discussion; to get feedback from your team regarding your vision’s potential implementation; and finally to present your revised vision speech to the entire staff (this class). The qualities of a good vision speech are provided in the course pack. We will discuss this assignment further during class time. Your final presentation should be no more than four minutes, and it will be taped. You will be given the DVD. The speech will be critiqued in class. This assignment is due the third weekend. (However, if students choose to present the 2nd weekend, they may).
