U.S. Literary Canon: 1900-the present
(Fall 2010)
This course will examine major works and literary movements in U.S. literature spanning
the twentieth century, with particular concern for the historical, social, and political
conditions in which texts were written and received. The texts selected include examples
from fiction, poetry, and drama and, taken together, reflect aspects of emergent concerns
with issues of gender, class, and race in U.S. literature.
