Job Description
POSITION:
DISTRICT INFORMATION OFFICER
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Bachelor Degree in information and/or computer related
field.
Three years of demonstrated expertise in organization,
analysis and problem solving and use of computers in
education.
Demonstrated ability to develop long-range plans for
technology applications in schools and to conduct
related budget analysis.
Broad knowledge of instructional technology equipment
and applications, on-line services, technology resources
and integration of technology across the curriculum.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the
Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:
Director of Instructional Services
JOB GOAL:
To provide leadership and supervision in the development,
implementation and coordination of the District Instructional and
Administrative technology plans to enhance instruction through
technology across the curriculum and to promote efficiency in the
schools through the use of technology.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Responsible for the efficient operation and supervision
of all education technology.
2.
Directs the process of review/recommendation of equipment
bids/quotes, purchase approvals, and standardization of
equipment.
3.
Supervises work performance of the technical staff.
4.
Develop in conjunction with the administration, a
district-wide master plan for the successful use of
computers in education, and prepare budgetary
requirements for implementation and maintenance.

Pursue grants and related funding activities associated
with the advancement of School technology.
6.
Organize and implement seminars/workshops and in-service
programs to train administrators, teachers, support staff
and students in the available technologies.
7.
Provide the necessary training, including hands-on
activities and demonstration lessons for teachers and
administrators in the successful utilization of computer
technology.
8.
Develop and maintain lines of communication with major
distributors of educational technology that serve the
educational needs of school districts.
9.
Organize and chair a District Technology Committee, which
will develop recommendations in the selection,
preparation and evaluation of software materials for the
educational program.
10. Coordinate activities within the Department of Curriculum
and Instruction by working cooperatively with the
supervisory staff in all matters relating to the
utilization of technology in education.
11. Cooperate and participate with Central Office
Administration and school principals in the continuing
development of district-wide electronic information
systems and coordinate technical staff to provide
assistance as needed.
12. Assure maintenance of inventories of instructional
software, computer equipment, and maintenance activities
and develop ongoing plans for phased replacement. Ensure
software license and copyright protection compliance.
13. Perform all responsibilities in a professional, courteous
and cooperative manner and maintain strict
confidentiality of school, school district, and Board of
Education information and records.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of
Instructional Services.
DISTRICT INFORMATION OFFFICER
-3TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract
Salary and fringe benefits per negotiated agreement between
the Pemberton Township Board of Education and the Pemberton
Township Support Services Administrators’ Association.
The information contained in this job description is a Board
of Education Guideline and may be changed at any time as
Pemberton Township School District needs necessitate.
Further, this job description does not constitute a written
employment contract.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
the Board's policies and procedures on evaluation of noninstructional supervisory personnel.
