Formulating, organizing and co-managing GALERI PETRONAS’ schedule of art exhibitions with the primary aim of

Develop, plan and implement events to support and complement gallery exhibitions to promote public’s appreciation

Main Responsibilities
1. Develop, plan and implement a program of art exhibitions at GALERI PETRONAS and external venues both local
and overseas
2. Plan and implement events complementing gallery’s art exhibitions eg. Curatorial walkthroughs, exhibition
previews, meet-the-artist sessions, etc.
3. Liaise with exhibition partners, co-sponsors and artists on terms & conditions, roles and responsibilities, timeline
and arrangement details and documenting the necessary for execution of agreed Terms and Conditions.
4. Pre-exhibition preparatory works; preparing Recommendations for management’s approval, evaluation &
selection of artworks for display, exhibition display layout, coordinate publication of exhibition catalogues and
wall text.
5. Coordinate and oversee loan arrangement of selected artworks, insurance coverage, condition reports, preemptive conservation, transportation/freighting arrangements, exhibition set-up and pack-down, and preparing
report for each exhibition organized.
6. Provide curatorial content as inputs required by Marketing Section for production of promotional collaterals,
speeches, Media releases, etc, and writing curatorial essays where necessary
7. Monitor terms and conditions/ agreements and verifying job completion necessary for payment processing.

Key Role
Manage the Registration of PETRONAS Art Collection (PAC) for the preservation of the nation visual artistic heritage in
support to promote the development of arts in Malaysia and PETRONAS corporate brand positioning as well as the
corporate agenda.
Main Responsibilities
1. Manage the documentation of PETRONAS Art Collection through the electronic system of Collection
Management Integrated Information which provides comprehensiveness of information of PAC’s acquisition,
authenticity, provenance, condition, conservation, display, storage, insurance and copyrights of the collectives,
ensuring accuracy of information, quick retrievals and confidentiality of records.
2. Execute registration of acquisition providing accessioning numbers, keeping primary documents of accession
such as research works (appraisals, authentication, provenance), commercial documents of acquisition
(quotations, invoices, delivery order), agreements ( S&P, copyrights transfers ) and reports of condition (
physical and structural assessment of artworks ) through the electronic system of Collection Management
Integrated Information and provision of hard copies in accordance with the approved policies and procedures.
3. Facilitate the development of PAC through execution of exhibition, education and publication to elevate the
investment value and increasing public accessibility to the collection in line with the goals of PETRONAS
corporate brand positioning and corporate agenda.
4. Manage and execute the preparation of agreements of transfer ( Letter of authenticity, S&P, Contract of
Commission, copyrights, intellectual property, etc ) for acquisition, commissioning and bequeath of artworks
ensuring acquired artworks of PAC be affected with legal ownership from owners, or their heirs in providing
the usage of artworks (to exhibit, display, document, promote, publicize, publish, reproduce, loaned and deaccessioned) without infringement of their moral and paternal rights and in keeping with artist’s integrity.
5. Manage and implement storage of artwork through proper system of storage adhering to museum standards
and practices of art storage (2D & 3D artworks, electronic & multimedia works, prints, textiles, ceramics,
installations and artifacts) ensuring secure and stable condition of the collection whilst at rest in the strong
room to safeguard the corporation’s art investment.
6. Manage and implement professional art handling practices for the PETRONAS Art Collection, during its
exhibition works, display, installations, loans, transfers, packing, crating, freighting , transiting and
photographing ensuring involved parties to adhere with stipulated guidelines of art handling in accordance with
museum/gallery art handling procedures, standards and practices.
7. Manage and implement the continuous care and maintenance of PAC through Preventive Conservation and
Restoration by adhering to code of museums ethics that mandate using 100% archival materials and techniques
for attaching art as well as art cleaning processes that are reversible and noninvasive as Fine Art collection
requires routine care and maintenance, immediate restoration of artworks due to damage and retraining of
staffs on art handling to ensure artwork safety and longevity.
8. Schedule and conduct periodic audit of the PAC through physical inventory count and examining the surface and
structural conditions of artworks (identify damage due to deterioration, age, insect infestations, vandalism,
human interferences or mishandling),while in storage/at rest and those on display, providing condition reports
for conservation and restoration requirements in maintaining continuous care of the collection.
9. To manage and implement the provision of insurance for the PETRONAS Art Collection with Group Insurance
Department, to meet specific needs of the job (while artworks on storage, transit, loan, framing, freighting
packing, exhibition or on display) providing full liability of PETRONAS Art insurance coverage through
comprehensive coverage for loss or damage to artworks.
10. Monitor and regulate the usage of Artist Rights whose artworks are in the PAC, determining the status of any
potential use restrictions such as ( copyrights, moral, paternal, patents and trademarks ) by ensuring the status
of copyright in place, the correct application of copyrights and that copyright of moral and intellectual rights are
respected ( in the documentation, exhibition, display, interpretation and reproduction of artworks in the
Collection ) in recognition of the moral rights of artist as a described in the Copyright Act of The Bern
Convention 1964

Key Role
Develop and manage public art programs for GALERI PETRONAS to develop and generate further public interest in, and
appreciation of art towards the preservation and promotion of Malaysian art.
This includes providing art accessibility (physically, emotionally and intellectually) to the widest possible audience by
presenting a diversity of perspectives through a wide range of media in order to increase the modes of undertaking the
arts for as many people as possible, offering various types of programs that would interest the public (gallery guides,
demonstrations, classes, guided tours, films, lectures, special events, workshops, volunteer training, outreach programs,
teacher training, art residencies, educational resources, resource kits and publications).
Main Responsibilities
1. Research and recommend to the curator on the conceptualization, development, planning and presentation of the
public programs by gathering information from internet, library, interviews with the artist and external curators
and other parties to propose suitable public programs which include artists, guest curators, guest writers etc for
manager’s approval.
2. Organise and manage all complimentary program in order to compliment the proposed exhibition by interpreting,
educating and accessing initiatives for exhibitions such as curatorial walkthrough, meet the artists session, lecture
series to determine and achieve audience development goals/target.
3. Propose and execute all post mortem session after each public programs and all lesson learnt on the successes and
weaknesses for continual improvements and prepare performance report after each public programs/ activities for
management’s information in order to enhance the planning, execution and conceptualisation of all future
programmes to reflect GP adaptation to public needs and professionalism.
4. Responsible and Support the curator in research and development of publications (e.g. selection of
artworks/artists, curatorial essays, critiques and commentaries, biodatas and profiles of artists and writers and
editorials) towards the production of digital publications to further elevate the development and preservation of
Malaysian art.
5. Maintain an up-to-date art database through monitoring newspapers for general art news, scan/ digitize
newspaper clippings and articles to be uploaded into the database system and Artists’ Biodata database in the form
of electronic/digitized format for easy accessibility for visitors & staff reference.
6. Responsible for the manning, supervision and operation of the ARC, by ensuring the general housekeeping of the
ARC is maintained also promote and ensure Visitors’ positive experience in the ARC in order to attract more visitors
to the ARC and to leave a lasting impression in the visitors’ mind.
7. Maintain and monitor archival of public program by handling photography and videography of selected public
programs also editing the materials for digital publications and reporting purposes.
8. Conduct research to assist with the coordination and development of virtual art programs using the internet to find
and develop new audiences such as working adults, pensioners, travelling public, or audience with special needs
where virtual art program to serve as medium in creating a venue for people with many perspectives to enjoy,
learn and interact with the gallery, and similarly through on-line programming.
Major Challenges
 To manage and resolve overcoming logistic, language barrier, and cultural differences via extensive networking in
the artistic fraternity locally and in the region
 To communicate and relay targeted messages to the Malaysian audience as they are lacking certain level of art
background/knowledge catering to various segments of community which makes it difficult to get the intended
messages across
 Space limitation (areas for public art talk, art courses, art making workshops, dedicated children activity area)
resulting in suitable and limited public art programs can be organized.
 To reach out to people (children, school going children, adults, non-art college students, teachers) who haven’t had
direct access to art via out-reach activities on-site and off-site locations
 To source for new / first time partners to GP’s public programs which include new young artists, guest curators, and
guest writers.
Qualifications & Experience

 Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts/Art History/Art Management &
Administration/School of Social Sciences and Humanity, or its equivalent.
Experience
 At least 5 years working experience in art education, art management or any art related fields
Skills required include:

Key Role
To contribute to and implement the public and media relations plans and other day-to-day operational requirements of
the marketing department, encompassing all core marketing functions such as marketing research, advertising,
promotions and related administrative duties towards achieving GALERI PETRONAS’ objective of preserving and
promoting Malaysian art.
The candidate will oversee Social Media campaigns with the goal of GALERI PETRONAS being known as a resource in the
online marketing field. He/she is responsible for defining and executing social media strategy. Duties may include
cultivating new communities and managing online visitors on GALERI PETRONAS’ behalf using Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube and other social media.
Main Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the Marketing Manager to create a social media strategy that collaborates with marketing, PR,
advertising and media campaign for all the exhibitions line-up and other promotions at GALERI PETRONAS.
2. Listen and work with other Managers from Exhibition, Special Programme, Art Collection and Venue Hire on their
needs of using Social Media to market their services/products.
3. Create a comprehensive social media strategy that define programs using social media marketing techniques to
increase visibility, membership and traffic to GALERI PETRONAS website and ultimately, increase number of physical
daily visitors.
4. Strategies and educate the management and staff of GALERI PETRONAS on incorporating relevant social media
techniques into the corporate culture and into all of GALERI PETRONAS’ products and services.
5. Needs to oversee Social Media campaigns which include but are not limited to: research, campaign and content
creation, execution, monitoring and reporting.
6. Analyze and report social media actions on a monthly basis for successes and new opportunities.
7. Create engaging and professional visuals that reflect GALERI PETRONAS.
8. Customize social media pages (e.g Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube).

visitors’ aids and other up-to-date materials and information related to GALERI PETRONAS activities for display on
the Website. Must therefore possess the knowledge and ability to convert documents from various software
applications to a format applicable on the website.
3. Conduct preliminary research and recommend appropriate Web-based programmes / IT applications necessary for
the Website to be linked to other URLs/ approved and relevant Websites as well as the appropriate and effective
search engines and determining the key words.
4. Coordinate the systematic procurement, storage, movement, tracking and recording of corporate/media gifts /
premium items inventory movement within department and for external use
5. Prepare comprehensive checklists, photocopy documents, meeting notices and relevant reports for departmental
meetings and ensure that all minutes of meetings and other Marketing & Communications documents are
systematically and securely filed.

schedules.

S/He is primarily responsible for assisting in the organising, installation and execution of art exhibitions both in-house
and off-site. S/He is also responsible for assisting in the organising and managing of public programs to support and
complement gallery exhibitions to promote public’s appreciation of the exhibitions.
Main Responsibilities
1. Assist the Exhibition Curator in the execution of all approved exhibitions and supporting programs for the
exhibitions in compliance with PETRONAS’ policy and procedures (procurement processes, copy rights, finance and
accounts) and in accordance with museum’s standards and practices.
2. Coordinate design and publishing works (exhibition catalogues & other related literatures), liaising with internal
(GSCMD, GASD, etc) and external service providers/vendors to ensure progress as per agreed exhibition timeline.
3. Prepare PR’s for approvals and follow through for execution of procurement of goods and services. Upon
completion of delivery and receipt of invoices, to prepare “Instruction for Payment” and follow through for payment
processing.
4. Coordinate all freight forwarding documentation and operations as well as logistics arrangement including safe
collection and return of artworks. Supervision of the art handlers (freight forwarders) during the packing/unpacking
and ensure compliance to international standards of art handling procedures.
5. Assist the Curators in the installation of artworks and exhibition props/paraphernalia within the agreed exhibition
timeline ensuring adherence to international standards of art handling procedures.
6. Conduct condition checks of all artworks for display and prepare Condition Reports, ensuring Condition Reports are
being signed off, pre- and post-exhibitions.
7. Assist the Exhibition Curator and Executive in their research for exhibition developments, by compiling, collating,
maintaining and updating the database of research and documentation materials for the section’s reference.
8. Monitoring of all exhibition contracts (with exhibiting artists, Guest Curators, etc) to ensure adherence to specified
job scope, terms and conditions as well as on time delivery of agreed deliverables, and to facilitate for on-time
payment processing upon completion.
9. Prepare detailed insurance list and arrange for appropriate insurance coverage for all exhibition artworks on display,
as well as artworks on loan, and monitoring to ensure interest of GALERI PETRONAS is being protected at all times.
10. Maintain systematic filing of records for easy retrieval for all Exhibition’s official records and documentation.

Key Role
Assists in the administrative functions of Art Collection Mgmt in undertaking a wide range of curatorial projects
involving the PETRONAS Art Collection. As Curatorial Assistant, is to help in the exhibition, research, publication,
acquisition, design and display and collector relations, personal and budgetary matters within the unit of Collection
Management including collection development program, budgeting, artwork conservation and security of collections
facility. In conjunction with exhibition programs, this position facilitates exhibit installs/de-installs, object related
maintenance and educational events involving the Collections.
Main Responsibilities
1. Assist the development of PETRONAS Art Collection as a broad survey of Modern and Contemporary Malaysian
Art through its curatorial programme of art acquisition, interpretative programs of exhibitions, publications and
educations in order to accumulate needful information, research and materials for the development of PAC.
2. Help to mitigate risk to objects of artworks in storage, transit and on display by ensuring the safety of the artworks
due to its handling and the condition of the environment in order to ensure the preserving the care of PAC.
3. Help manage and implement professional art handling practices for the PAC by ensuring parties involved
practicing the stipulated guidelines in handling of artwork by following the industry standards in order to minimize
the risk of damaging artworks due to its mishandling.
4. To help manage the collection conservation needs and maintenance by adhering to code of museums ethics that
mandate using 100% archival materials and techniques for attaching art as well as art cleaning processes that are
reversible and noninvasive as Fine Art collection requires routine care and maintenance in order to preserve the
PAC investment value.
5. Help the implementation of design and display of the PAC through constant venue rotation, displayed at various
corporate premises group wide in order to promote the development and appreciation of Malaysian Visual Arts.
6. Help and assist the art consultancy and commissions of artworks programme by providing the needs for the
development of project in order to ensure the information completed for the purposes of the planning and the
execution of the project.
7. Help the preparation of departmental budgets, expenses tracking and operational reports of art acquisition,
conservation and curatorial programes by reviewing the allocation and the actual spending of the previous year as
well as planning of program throughout the year in order to come out with overall estimated budget of the year.
Key Qualifications & Experience

 Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to converse and write fluently in English and Bahasa

 PC literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access)
