Augment students’/classmates’ understanding of background information useful in the study of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. 2. Develop technology/research/presentation skills through the creation and performance of a PowerPoint presentation (either computer or hard copy slides). 3. Practice reading, understanding and executing written directions. Directions: With your partner(s), create a 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation covering the topic you have chosen. RESEARCH AND SLIDES- check off directions as you complete them You can either do your slides on the computer PowerPoint OR hard copy (a half-sheet of paper under the document camera). In BOTH OPTIONS each slide must have: A visual example of something you have researched (picture, drawing, chart, etc.) As well as brief textual support for the slide The text may not be longer than a sentence or two on any slide The text must be paraphrased, IN YOUR OWN WORDS! NO CUT AND PASTE! You may use two direct quotes in the PowerPoint presentation; these may not be more than a sentence or two. You must have at least one non-internet source (book, encyclopedia, magazine or Journal article) All research notes and source information must be on index cards (minimum six cards) Your final slide must be a “Works Cited” page (bibliography) on which you provide your sources. You must have at least 3 sources (use citationmachine.net for MLA formatting). ORAL PRESENTATION Your actual oral presentation will be from 5-10 minutes in length in which you will elaborate on the information displayed in your slides. You may not read from the slides. Oral presentation should be mostly MEMORIZED, but may be aided by the use of note cards (BUT no straight reading). TEAM WORK (partners are encouraged to exchange phone #s and email) Each member of the team must contribute fairly to the project. If one person contributes more to the slide-making due to superior expertise, the other member should contribute more to the oral performance. INDIVIDUAL WORK Work to the best of your ability. Meet deadlines and communicate with your partner and the teacher before it is too late. Write a reflection about the experience. If you have ideas not covered in the general assignment guidelines, consult the teacher for approval. Creativity is encouraged.
