Political Cartoon Essay
(100 points)
Politics is the cause of all social change. Political cartoons present myriad
perspectives and varying voices to promote social change, to deliver
sardonic criticism and/or lofty ideals, and to examine interrelationships
among citizens, their states, and the world. Political cartoons often employ
parody, caricature, irony, symbolism, persuasion, and allusion to make
political and social commentary on language, culture, and global issues.
Select 3 political cartoons that share a uniting theme or linking
commonality. Compose a two to three page essay that compares and
contrasts the selected cartoons in terms of opinion, style, diction (if
applicable), imagery (artistry), purpose, tone, and public opinion. Feel free
to include additional rhetorical devices that you find applicable to your
respective cartoons.
