We all know that Gulliver accidentally arrived in Lilliput – a country where small people lived. He was called Man Mountain and was very popular in Lilliput. It wasn’ t the end of the story. Gulliver kept traveling after he left Lilliput, with his passion of adventure. He had a short-stay in Belfuscu. He traveled the land of giants, Brobdingnag. Then he went to Laputa, a flying island. People in Laputa were all strange and distracted. Later, Gulliver visited the academy in Balnibarbi; there, professors were having some creative but ridiculous studies. Glubbdubdrib was a magic island; he met some people from the past. There were Immortals, who had awful temper, in Luggnagg. And finally, Gulliver arrived in a land where Houyhnhmns lived. He even didn’t want to leave after the days he lived with the horses. Gulliver seemed never to lose his passion on traveling. I admire his spirits very much because if I was him, I would rather stay with my family members all day long. In those places Gulliver went to, kings and residents showed him every courtesy. He was very lucky, I think. Furthermore, Gulliver must be a clever guy. If not, he wouldn’t be able to learn those variable languages and not forgetting them! What kind of study I would have if I were one of the professors in Balnibarbi? Maybe I would try to invent an USB drive which was for human’s brain only. I’m now in over my head of the knowledge taught by high school teachers. Thus, if I put an USB drive in my brain, I could store every word in it, and I would remember them forever! To me, the most unforgettable part of the story was the magic in Glubdbdrib. Gulliver called and met many people, like Alexander the Great, Hannibal, to name a few. I would like to see the cartoonist of Crayon Shin-Chan(蠟筆小新) if I had the magic! I could ask him create more funny comics so that kids in the world would feel cheerful all the time. Above all, the interesting part must be the Yahoos! Yahoos, who were the almost humans living in the land with Houyhnmns, were hairy and wild and were the servants there. We are the leaders of horses for sure in this world. However, in contrast, if we were in that land, we had to work for horses and were oppressed without freedom! From the story, Yahoos were explained as rude and silly. Considering the amusing definitions, Jerry Yang used for its name when he first founded the well-known Internet search engine - Yahoo. Gulliver’ Travels seems a good and funny fairy tale for children. In fact, the reason why the writer wrote this story was to satirize the terrible England government at that time. It is really a remarkable story that is worth to be discussed in our daily life. 角色 Character 形容詞 Adjective A professor who aimed to make people communicate by "things". unpractical 單字 Word 出現頁數 Page navigation (n) 航海 10 permission (n) 許可 20 parliament (n) 國會 37 oppressed (a) 被壓制的 46 desperate (a) 鋌而走險的 67 句子 Sentence 頁數 Page Almost immediately, the emperor and his wife arrived at the shore. 24 In my country, the trees and the animals are in proportion to us. 35
